Summary: M&T Bank’s Debt Capital Markets platform is experiencing significant growth and expanding its presence across Corporate and Institutional clients as well as the Sponsored and Non-Sponsored Middle Market sector. We are seeking a collaborative, commercially minded Vice President to join our growing Loan Sales & Trading team to help drive the continued evolution of our syndication and loan trading franchise. This role offers the opportunity to partner closely with the DCM Structuring & Origination (“S&O”) team by delivering syndicate groups of debt investors to support and fund innovative financing solutions. The successful candidate will play a meaningful role in expanding investor relationships, executing syndicated transactions, and helping shape one of the industry’s fastest-growing capital markets platforms. **Open to other locations within our footprint with a strong preference in Baltimore** S&T Vice President Job Description: Lead the syndication and distribution of primary loan transactions arranged by M&T Bank including leveraged finance, pro rata, ABL, 1L/2L and unitranche solutions for sponsored and non-sponsored borrowers, and public and private companies. Manage deal flow across a broad range of industries including commercial & industrial, energy, utilities, T&L, business services, food & beverage, consumer & retail, gaming & leisure, healthcare, FIG, franchise, dealer commercial services, among many others. Maintain ongoing lender coverage across multiple debt investor classes including banks, private credits, mezzanine providers and broker/dealers. Partner with S&O team throughout transaction lifecycle – from early-stage investor engagement and market intelligence through underwriting, execution, closing and post-close syndication. Provide thoughtful market insights on investor appetite, pricing, structure and documentation trends to drive syndication execution strategy and optimize client outcomes. Collaborate with S&T colleagues to actively manage secondary loan trading portfolio, identify relative value opportunities, and support market-making activities. Drive trading revenue through disciplined balance-sheet management, market expertise, and proactive client engagement. Coordinate closely with lead arrangers, co-underwriters, and bookrunners on syndicated transactions, with particular emphasis on M&T’s growing Joint Lead Arranger and underwriting capabilities in Term Loan B, Revolver/TLA, and Bridge-to-Bond financings. Monitor capital markets conditions, investor sentiment, and macroeconomic developments to identify opportunities and proactively advise internal and external stakeholders. Mentor and develop junior members of the DCM team; contribute to a high‑performance culture. Partner effectively with Credit, Legal, Operations and Middle Office teams to ensure seamless transaction execution and an exceptional client experience. S&T Vice President Required Qualifications & Skills: Minimum of six years of experience in loan syndications, leverage finance, capital markets, institutional sales & trading, or related field. Strong knowledge of syndicated loan products, leveraged finance structures, institutional capital markets, private credit, and debt execution. Demonstrate ability to evaluate financing alternatives and advise on optimal transaction structures across traditional and bespoke financing solutions. Proven relationship management skills with institutional investors and pro rata market participants. Ability to manage self and Associates/Analysts’ time and seek opportunities to contribute to senior bankers during down time. Strong analytical capabilities and problem-solving skills. Collaborative leadership style with a willingness to mentor junior professionals and contribute to a collegial, team-first environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex market information and business models clearly and effectively. Self-starter with strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple transactions simultaneously.
