As the Principal Strategic Sourcing Specialist, MRO, you will be a key member of Medtronic's center-led Indirect Supply Management (ISM) team, reporting to the Senior Sourcing Manager of Global MRO. In this role, you will develop and execute value-driven sourcing strategies across functions, regions, and businesses, leveraging Medtronic's global scale to deliver year-over-year value within the MRO Category Vertical. You will partner closely with center-led business engagement teams to implement category strategies globally and drive enterprise-wide impact. The opportunities to create value within this approximately $450M category are significant, and we're looking for someone who thrives on identifying new opportunities, solving complex challenges, and making a measurable difference. You will bring a proven track record of uncovering value opportunities, building strong relationships in a matrixed environment, collaborating across teams, and influencing stakeholders at all levels of the organization. In-person collaboration remains an important part of how we work, and this role is expected to work on-site a minimum of four days per week. As the Principal Strategic Sourcing Specialist-MRO, you will: Develop and execute comprehensive sourcing strategies across multiple MRO sub-categories, leveraging market intelligence, spend analytics, competitive bidding (RFx), supplier consolidation, catalog optimization, and insourcing/outsourcing opportunities to deliver sustained year-over-year value improvements in cost, quality, service, innovation, and risk management. Build and maintain strong partnerships with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and cross-functional teams including Finance, Legal, Quality, Compliance, and Operations to identify business needs, align sourcing initiatives with enterprise objectives, and drive execution within a highly matrixed global organization. Lead strategic supplier relationship management (SRM) activities, including supplier governance, performance management, and contract negotiations, ensuring supplier strategies support stakeholder requirements, mitigate risk, and advance Medtronic's long-term business goals. Utilize data-driven decision making by developing robust spend transparency, maintaining category data integrity, and identifying trends, opportunities, and cost reduction initiatives that optimize overall MRO cost pool management and support informed business decisions. Partner with Sourcing Operations and Administration teams to expand and optimize purchasing catalogs and guided buying solutions, improving user adoption, compliance, operational efficiency, and alignment with broader category strategies. Influence senior leaders and key stakeholders by identifying opportunities, recommending innovative solutions to complex business challenges, and presenting actionable strategies that enhance organizational performance and deliver measurable business value. Requirements
Bachelor's degree required. Minimum of 7 years of relevant sourcing or supply chain experience or advanced degree with 5 years of relevant sourcing or supply chain experience Nice to Have Proven success developing and executing global category and strategic sourcing strategies within MRO sub-categories and delivering measurable business value through strategic sourcing methodologies. Specific experience driving creative solutions in recovering value for obsolete and expired inventory.
Experience
identifying and delivering product standardization opportunities for consumables across the enterprise in the MRO category Advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI, SAP, and Ariba, with strong analytical capabilities and a data-driven approach to decision-making. Demonstrated strengths in leadership, stakeholder management, customer focus, negotiation, communication, and problem-solving, with the ability to influence technical experts, business leaders, cross-functional teams, and suppliers to achieve results.
Experience
developing and presenting sourcing strategies and business cases to support organizational objectives and drive executive-level decisions. Strong program and project management capabilities, coupled with exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, sound business judgment, and commercial acumen. Continuous improvement mindset with a proven ability to identify opportunities, optimize processes, and deliver sustainable outcomes. Positive, collaborative team player with extensive experience leading and partnering across complex, matrixed global organizations. PR) locations (USD):$107,200.00 - $160,800.00 This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP). The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
