About the Role We are seeking a proactive and experienced Senior Software Developer to join our growing China Tech Hub. You will play a key role in customizing and integrating China-specific solutions into our global platforms, helping bridge local user needs with our worldwide digital ecosystem. Based in our Shanghai office, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams across China and Europe, and be part of a global developer community spanning China, India, Portugal, Germany, and the UK. You’ll contribute to building high-quality digital solutions tailored for the China market, while ensuring smooth integration with Springer Nature’s global platforms. Your responsibilities will include: Collaborating with China-based solution architects to customize global repositories for China-specific needs. Developing localized features and façade APIs on top of global interfaces. Supporting frontend and API integrations for end-to-end delivery. Acting as a technical liaison between local teams in China and global engineering partners. Troubleshooting and triaging support cases for China-specific projects. Qualifications
Has several years of hands-on experience developing software in Java, Kotlin, or Scala. A full stack developer who has stretched knowledge for those frontend development work. (e.g. HTML, CSS and WeChat MP development.) Enjoys mentoring junior developers and sharing your expertise. Thrives in collaborative, cross-functional teams with collective ownership of products. Values quality and reliability, and is experienced with Test-Driven Development (TDD). Is comfortable with pair programming, trunk-based development, CI/CD, and agile practices. Embraces failure as a learning opportunity and believes in developer ownership of production systems.
