Job Summary
Performs the primary function of a nurse leader in assessing, planning, directing, and evaluating patient outcomes under the direction of the Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer with direct oversight over the Patient Blood Management and Bloodless Medicine Program. Responsible for establishing systems and processes to evaluate effectiveness of program and implement strategies to improve efficiency and patient outcomes. A key focus for this position is the coordination of patient services and communication within the organization as it relates to the blood management and bloodless medicine program working with key individuals of the interdisciplinary team to ensure that optimal state-of-the-art is provided. Promotes and supports the philosophy, goals, and objectives of the Hospital and the Division of Nursing. The position is accountable to grow, expand and maintain the Patient Blood Management and Bloodless Medicine Program with the organization providing coordination of care and serving as the primary point of contact for physicians, patients, staff, and physician office staff. Influences policies that achieve health equity, promote wellness, and protect against inequity for people of marginalized and underrepresented communities.

Environmental Demands: Works in a clean, well-lighted, heated, and ventilated facility. Constant exposure to medical gases, electrical equipment, patients with infectious disease, (although precautionary measures are practiced to protect worker). Ability to work non-standard shifts and hours. 2. Essential Physical and Cognitive Demands, Manual Dexterity: Demonstrates physical and functional ability to perform full anatomical range of motion to accomplish tasks. Evidence of visual and aural acuity and finger and hand dexterity to operate computer and office equipment. Can withstand long periods of sitting, standing and/or constant walking. Ability to lift a minimum of 20 lbs. Ability to foster collaborative relationships, to work well under pressure, to organize and synthesize new information, and prioritize tasks. Possesses critical thinking, analytical skills and flexibility. Ability to multi-task. Demonstrates sensitivity to customer needs and expectations. Requires detailed attention to work in an environment where interruptions cannot be controlled May be subject to irregular hours. B. Reviews and evaluates plans for appropriate utilization of staff at all levels of practice in accordance with the provisions of the state’s nurse practice act and the professional standards of practice. Facilitates registered nurse participation in the monitoring and evaluation of nursing care in accordance with the established professional, regulatory, and organizational standards of practice. (NDNQI, JC, DOH). 6. Interdisciplinary Functions: Maintains substantial involvement in departmental activities to ensure alignment and consistency between strategic goals, resource management. Attends and actively participates in department and hospital-wide committee meetings and activities, seeking opportunities to provide leadership within areas of expertise. Assists and support Nursing Leadership in creating and sustaining a culture of nursing excellence. 7. Strategic Initiatives: Participates with leaders from the governing body management, medical staff, and clinical areas in planning, promoting, and conducting organization wide performance improvement activities and decision-making structures and processes. Coordinates and plans with the leadership team to effect changes that allow the organization to be competitive in a changing health care market. 8. Policy and Procedure: Takes an active role in developing and implementing departmental policies and procedures on a consistent basis. Ensures departmental policy and procedure is communicated effectively to all staff and followed up on accordingly. Monitors nursing staff to assure required tasks are being performed in a manner prescribed by policy and procedure *Demonstrates the required job specific technical professional knowledge, skills and abilities. * Document on addendum age specific competency. Qualifications
BS Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or health related field required Required MS MSN Preferred Minimum of five (5) years nursing experience. Leadership experience preferred.
Experience
with budgets, staffing plans and program development preferred. Current New York State licensure as a registered professional nurse.
