The primary purpose of this position is to conduct testing of viral agents and/or the diseases they may cause in mammalian and avian species.
Duties
include processing samples in accordance with standardized procedures for virus isolation and viral serological tests; assures quality control of reagents, test kits and in-house laboratory controls; monitors and maintains all laboratory equipment; prepares and maintains adequate amounts of reagents as needed; maintains inventory of stock of laboratory supplies; interacts with clients as needed to facilitate reporting of test results; computer data entry of test results and processing of paperwork for client distribution. Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences Recruiting Range: $62,044 - $80,000 General theoretical knowledge of the variety of laboratory procedures applicable to virology, serology or immunology, or other related disciplines. Bachelor’s degree in medical laboratory technology, chemistry or a biological science from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience in a medical laboratory in the assigned area; or Associate’s degree in medical technology from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of medical laboratory experience; or Completion of a certified laboratory assistant course in medical technology or a comparable course from an appropriately accredited institution and four years of medical laboratory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
