This position is designated as a hybrid role based out of our headquarters near Portland, Oregon. ABOUT THE POSITION Columbia Sportswear is powered by technology that connects four global brands, a worldwide supply chain, and 500+ retail stores. We are seeking a Senior Compute and Storage Infrastructure Engineer with strong on-prem expertise, experience with Hybrid environments and a focus on virtualized environments, Windows and Red Hat Linux operating systems, storage, global files sharing and replication/resilience. In this role, you will help keep our Global On-Prem environment reliable, secure, and well-governed; partnering with and supporting other engineers through operational execution, documentation, and continuous improvement. HOW YOU’LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE Deliver engineering solutions across our global Data Center and Hybrid ecosystem that efficiently fit the needs of the business Design, build, and maintain compute, storage, replication and business recovery, ensuring scalable, secure, and stable environments Conduct audits, assessments, and develop technical documentation Support global teams by assisting with incidents and operational escalations and improvements Collaborate closely with cross‑regional partners to execute shared technical roadmaps Partner with Finance, Platform, and Engineering teams to support FinOps practices, including cost visibility, usage optimization, and spend governance Participate in on call rotations that follow the sun model with your engineering peers around the globe This position plays a significant role in building a stable, scalable, and secure future for Columbia’s cloud portfolio. YOU ARE A strong Infrastructure engineer passionate about secure, scalable, and innovative hybrid solutions A collaborator who enjoys working with global teammates across cultures and time zones A clear and confident communicator—in both spoken and written—able to work with technical and nontechnical audiences Someone who values documentation, standards, and process-driven engineering Familiar with IT Service Management (ITSM / ITIL), operations maturity, and enabling service teams A proactive, self-directed engineer who thrives in a dynamic, global environment An analytical thinker who emphasizes structure, quality, and repeatability YOU HAVE Minimum 5 years of hands-on infrastructure engineering and operations with a global environment Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or related STEM field—or equivalent experience Significant hands-on experience with a combination of the following: VMware, Windows Server OS, RedHat Linux, Commvault, Dell, Pure, Qumulo technologies

Experience

working with global or distributed teams (GCC/multinational experience is a plus)

Experience

with Jira, Confluence Strong automation bias Familiarity with GitHub Actions and automation tools such as Ansible and PowerShell

Experience

breaking work down for complex efforts a plus

Experience
