The Medical Strategy & Innovation Lead is a senior strategic individual contributor who supports the Therapeutic Area Lead (TAL) in shaping the long-term direction of Hematology Medical Affairs in Germany. The role focuses on identifying opportunities beyond day-to-day asset execution, driving cross-functional initiatives, helping translate global priorities into locally relevant strategies that strengthen scientific leadership, organizational capability and future launch readiness for Germany. The position identifies strategic opportunities in the approach to evidence generation and scientific partnerships, identifies future unmet needs and opportunities, and consolidates medical, field and market insights into actionable recommendations for affiliate and regional strategy. It works closely with the other direct reports of the TAL (Medical Advisors, the Field Medical Lead), Clinical Operations and other cross-functional stakeholders to complement asset execution without assuming operational ownership. The role provides strategic leadership, coordination and subject-matter expertise through influence, matrix collaboration and cross-functional project leadership. Furthermore, the role identifies innovative approaches, processes and collaboration models, including appropriate industry collaborations and partnerships, and acts as a strategic thought partner to the TAL by identifying emerging opportunities and anticipating future challenges for the German affiliate. The role reports to the Therapeutic Area Lead.
Essential Functions
of the Job: Support the Therapeutic Area Lead in identifying and advancing strategic initiatives that strengthen the long-term impact of Hematology Medical Affairs in Germany. Identify future opportunities to strengthen Medical Affairs through innovative approaches, processes and cross-functional collaboration, including appropriate industry collaborations and partnerships. Translate global medical strategy into a Germany-specific strategic roadmap that reflects the local healthcare environment and aligns with affiliate, regional and global priorities. Help shape the strategic approach to evidence generation and scientific partnerships across the hematology portfolio, identifying priorities that address future unmet needs. Develop cross-portfolio initiatives that maximize scientific impact and create synergies across assets and stages of the product lifecycle. Drive Medical Affairs collaboration with Clinical Operations to improve site identification, feasibility, recruitment strategies and overall study performance. Build strategic partnerships with German cooperative study groups and other external scientific stakeholders to strengthen BeOne Medicines’ research footprint. Consolidate medical, field and market insights into actionable recommendations that inform affiliate and regional strategy. Partner with Medical Advisors, the Field Medical Lead and cross-functional leaders to complement asset execution (without assuming operational ownership) Act as a strategic thought partner to the Therapeutic Area Lead, identifying emerging opportunities and anticipating future challenges for the affiliate.
Qualifications
Minimum of 8+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry, with strong Medical Affairs background in Hematology Demonstrated success in strategic leadership, matrix collaboration and influencing cross-functional teams without direct authority In-depth understanding of the relevant therapeutic area disease landscape, treatment pathways, clinical research environment and national study group structures Strong strategic thinking capabilities with proven ability to translate global medical strategy into a locally relevant roadmap and actionable recommendations Proven ability to identify and address unmet medical, educational and research needs within the medical community. Advanced analytical capabilities to collect, analyze and interpret key scientific data and insights, supporting data-driven decision-making and identification of new opportunities. Proven experience in evidence planning, scientific partnerships, clinical research collaboration and cross-functional medical innovation Comprehensive knowledge of industry ethical and compliance standards and the local healthcare system Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
