Northrop Grumman’s Space Sector is seeking a Systems Engineer: Mission Modeling Simulation – Level 4 to join our team in Chandler, AZ. This position will support mission‑level and system‑level modeling, simulation, and analysis for advanced missile and interceptor systems. In this role, you will support complex architecture and simulation frameworks, drive mission engineering and operations analysis, and perform trade studies that shape system architectures, requirements, and concepts of operation. You will be a key technical contributor who collaborates across disciplines and engages directly with program and customer leadership. This position is 100% on site in Chandler, AZ (strongly preferred). Remote candidates may also be considered You will work with systems, GNC, seeker/sensor, software, mission, and integration & test engineers to: Develop and integrate mission‑level and system‑level performance models, algorithms, and simulations of missiles, interceptors, sensors, threats, and command‑and‑control systems Perform operations and behavior analysis, mission effectiveness studies, and assess architecture alternatives for delivering an effect or capability within a broader campaign, including end‑to‑end engagement and campaign‑level assessments Integrate and use graphical user interfaces and visualization tools Link operational mission needs and analysis results to support development of system and subsystem requirements, engineering analyses, performance metrics, test strategies, documentation / reports, and content for specifications and reviews Develop and present analysis‑backed recommendations that influence architecture trades, CONOPS, and Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs) Basic
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline with 8 years of professional experience in systems engineering or modeling and simulation – OR – Master’s degree and 6 years; or Ph.D. and 4 years U.S. Citizenship is required. Must have an active U.S. Government Secret security clearance Demonstrated experience supporting mission‑level and system‑level modeling and simulation for missile/interceptor or integrated air and missile defense programs Hands‑on experience with operations analysis and virtual simulation tools such as AFSIM, NGTS, Brawler, STK, MATLAB/Simulink, or similar environments Strong background in probability, statistics, and design of experiments applied to weapon system and mission performance Demonstrated experience supporting technical teams, defining MS&A plans, and reviewing/approving models, assumptions, and analysis results
Preferred Qualifications
Ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret and/or Special Access Program (SAP) access; active TS/SAP is highly preferred Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including briefing complex analysis outcomes to program and customer leadership Demonstrated resolve to drive tasks to completion, both independently and in collaborative teams, and possess strong mentoring / training skills
Experience
in one or more of the following areas: Missile/interceptor GNC and tracking/estimation (Kalman filtering, particle filtering, optimal estimation theory) RF or EO/IR seeker/sensor modeling Integrated air defense systems (IADS) or threat modeling Electronic attack, electronic protection, and countermeasures modeling Survivability, lethality, and vulnerability analysis at the weapon or mission level
Experience
with Model‑Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and digital engineering, integrating MS&A into system architecture and requirements flow down

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
