Scheduling Coordinator NewsNation | Chicago Position Summary NewsNation is seeking a Part-Time Scheduling Coordinator to assist in facilitating crew, control rooms, and studios scheduling for our network headquarters in Chicago for live and pretaped programming.
Responsibilities
include but are not limited to: • Helping develop and maintain master schedules for control room and studio crews, allocating shifts based on availability and skill requirements in a 24/7 breaking news environment • Handle any sick calls, PTO/vacation requests, and/or last-minute scheduling changes; rapidly responding to employee absences and callouts by locating and securing qualified crew replacements. • Notify employees of their schedules, communicate last-minute changes, and serve as a point of contact for staff availability inquiries. • Confirm all crew have arrived for their shifts and are in position. • Participate in daily check-ins with operations management and scheduling meetings. What Success Looks Like • Staffing issues are addressed before they impact production. • Schedules are accurate, timely, and aligned with operational needs. • Employees receive clear direction and consistent communication.
Qualifications
• 3 years of scheduling experience, preferably in a live television or video production environment • Familiarity in operating in a union-represented workplace, understanding the nuances of represented employee scheduling. • The ability to multitask, be incredibly detail oriented, and organized will be key to success in this position • Strong communication skills with the ability to work both individually and in a team environment • Working knowledge of common business software applications, particularly Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook •
Experience
with WhenToWork or other scheduling programs a plus • All day parts (mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays) may be a part of the schedule as situations demand • Salary Range: $25.00 - $30.00 hourly • #LI-On-site About NewsNation NewsNation is a national cable news network delivering fact-based news coverage to viewers across the United States.
