The Role: The HR Generalist supports the day-to-day Human Resources operations of the venue and the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, HR administration, benefits, compliance, and employee engagement. Working closely with the Human Resources Manager and venue leadership, this position provides firsthand HR support to employees and managers. As part of a two-person HR department, the HR Generalist plays a key role in delivering responsive, effective, and compliant HR services across the venue. Duties

Responsibilities

Facilitate the full-cycle recruitment process, including posting positions, screening applicants, coordinating and conducting interviews, completing pre-employment requirements, and preparing new hire documentation. Coordinate and process new hires, employee status changes, compensation changes, and other employment-related transactions. Maintain accurate employee information and records in Workday, ADP, ABI, and other applicable HR systems. Organize and maintain confidential employee records and files, including personnel, I-9, medical, workers' compensation, investigation, and disciplinary files in accordance with company policy and applicable laws. Assist employees with benefits-related questions and enrollment, including the PlanSource benefits platform and 401(k) enrollment. Process employee changes related to pay, status, time off, benefits, and other employment matters in accordance with company policies and applicable collective bargaining agreements. Partner with the Human Resources Manager and management team to address employee concerns, complaints, grievances, performance issues, disciplinary actions, and workplace investigations. Conduct employee and management interviews and assist with documenting investigations and employee relations matters. Provide guidance to employees and managers regarding HR policies, procedures, work rules, and workplace expectations, escalating matters to the Human Resources Manager as appropriate. Coordinate and facilitate New Hire Orientation, including preparing materials, scheduling sessions, communicating with participants, and tracking completion. Assist with training and communicating company policies, procedures, and other HR-related updates. Support employee engagement, recognition, team building, volunteer, and other employee programs and communications. Assist with the administration and coordination of workers' compensation claims, leaves of absence, and benefits-related processes. Conduct exit interviews and assist with tracking employee turnover, engagement feedback, and other HR trends or concerns. Partners with management to support staffing and recruitment needs and help ensure appropriate staffing levels for operational success. Assist with ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, labor posting requirements, company policies, collective bargaining agreements, and government reporting requirements. Provide HR support during events and non-event days as operationally needed. Develop and maintain strong working relationships with employees and management while demonstrating professionalism, confidentiality, sound judgment, and discretion. Maintain a strong understanding of venue operations and business needs to provide effective and value-added HR support. Assist with general HR office administration, including mail, office supplies, and other departmental needs. Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience

Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and relevant HR experience may be considered. 3–5 years of progressive Human Resources experience preferred. SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification preferred. Working knowledge of applicable federal and state employment laws and regulations, including FLSA, FMLA, EEOC, NLRB, workers' compensation, and workplace safety requirements.

Experience

supporting recruitment, employee relations, onboarding, benefits, and other HR functions. Comfortable presenting information and conducting training or orientation for small and large groups. Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Skills and Abilities

Ability to build credibility and effective working relationships with employees and management at all levels. Excellent verbal, written, and listening communication skills. Strong customer service mindset with the ability to provide professional and responsive support to employees, managers, clients, and other stakeholders. Demonstrated initiative, sound judgment, critical thinking skills, and the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information. Ability to prioritize and execute multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment. Ability to work effectively in a collaborative and matrixed organizational environment. Ability to work flexible hours based on business needs, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and event days. Bilingual in English and Spanish or Haitian Creole preferred but not required. Computer Skills Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and Microsoft Windows. Hands-on experience with HRIS and applicant tracking systems; experience with ADP, Workday, and ABI. Ability to operate and effectively utilize standard office equipment and computer systems. Ability to learn and adapt to new technology, software, and HR systems as required.
