Job Description: Job Title: Operations Expert, Assistant Vice President Location: Pune, India Role Description We are seeking a professional who is comfortable working with code daily. The ideal candidate can write Python and VBA solutions, understand XML structures, interpret and troubleshoot code written by others, learn proprietary scripting languages, and apply these skills to improve tax operations processes and controls. They should possess a strong operational mindset and be passionate about leveraging technology to drive efficiency, reduce risk, and support scalable business processes. As a member of the National Tax Operations Team, you are responsible for technically supporting and enhancing tax operational processes through technology, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role requires a strong blend of operational knowledge and technical expertise, enabling the individual to bridge the gap between tax operations requirements and technology solutions. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and improving existing automation solutions, developing new process improvements, and understanding the underlying code and logic used within third-party tax applications and internal tools. The role requires hands-on coding, analytical problem-solving, and collaboration with tax operations teams to improve efficiency, reduce operational risk, and strengthen controls. Read, understand, troubleshoot, and modify code used within existing tax tools and third-party applications. Analyze existing tax operations processes and identify opportunities for automation, standardization, and efficiency improvements. Design and implement technical solutions that reduce manual effort, improve accuracy, and strengthen operational controls. Support administration, configuration, and maintenance of tax-related systems, workflows, and tools. Perform root cause analysis on process issues and implement sustainable solutions. Create and maintain technical and process documentation for all automation solutions and operational procedures. Participate in governance and compliance activities related to End User Developed Applications (EUDAs) and operational tools. Support tax and fund operations teams with data analysis, reporting, and process optimization initiatives. Contribute to continuous improvement projects and support strategic transformation initiatives within Tax Operations. Your skills and experience Degree in Computer Science, Business Informatics, Finance, Taxation, Engineering, or a related discipline.
Experience
in asset management, investment operations, fund accounting, or tax reporting environments would be an added advantage
Experience
with SimCorp Dimension or similar investment management platforms is an advantage.
Experience
working with automation frameworks, workflow tools, or low-code platforms is desirable. Strong analytical and logical thinking capabilities. Ability to work independently and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously. Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Continuous improvement mindset with a passion for process optimization and automation. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Technical Skills Strong hands-on experience in Python programming.
Experience
working with XML structures, transformations, and validations. Advanced VBA development skills, including automation and Excel-based solutions. Ability to read, understand, troubleshoot, and enhance existing code developed by others. Ability to understand and learn proprietary or tool-specific scripting/coding languages used within third-party applications.
Experience
with Power Query, Power Automate, SQL, or similar automation tools is advantageous. Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills. Operations & Business Knowledge (optional)
Experience
in Tax Operations, Fund Operations, Fund Accounting, Financial Services Operations, or related operational functions. Understanding operational workflows, controls, reconciliations, and process governance.
Experience
identifying process gaps and implementing operational improvements. Knowledge of tax reporting, tax compliance, or regulatory processes is beneficial but not mandatory. Proven ability to leverage AI tools to enhance productivity, optimise workflows to solve business problems, while applying critical judgment to ensure responsible and ethical use of data and AI outputs.
