Hiring Agency: Game & Parks Commission - Agency 33 Location: Lincoln, NE Hiring Rate: $25.403 Job Posting: JR2026-00028521 Accountant II (Open) Applications No Longer Accepted On (If no date is displayed, job is posted as open until closed): 08-21-2026 Job Description: ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES: Under direct supervision of Assistant Division Administrator perform professional accounting work through the application of accounting principles and concepts, analyze financial data and provide recommendations pertaining to agency planning matters and identify and resolve system issues through the development of procedures and guidelines and technical assistance. Advise Budget & Fiscal Division Administrator and Budget and Fiscal Division Assistant Administrators when additional grant or contract funding is approved and prepare request documentation to State Budget Office for additional appropriation as needed. Assist with grant accounting and perform ASAP draws when needed. Extract expenditure and revenue data specific to business units, types of expenditures/revenue, programs, subprograms, and divisions from the Payroll and Financial Center for reviewing/monitoring/analyzing and assisting with developing methodology of split coding of various payments to ensure proper use of funds. Conduct ongoing review and updating of agency’s Internal Control Plan and various agency procedural guideline documents to assure proper processes are defined and utilized. Compile and analyze expenditures to assist with preparation of the State Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR). Establish business units and sub-ledgers within the E1 system and internal database as needed. Assist with special projects as assigned and/or respond to questions (internal and external) related to accounts payable, procurement and fixed asset processes and entries. Audit and approve or pre-audit/post expenditure payments and ACH revenues prepared by other agency staff.

Associates degree in accounting, finance, business administration, statistics or related field and experience with accounting/financial management systems OR 2 years’ experience with professional accounting procedures including developing and modifying accounting/financial management systems. Experience
in processing transactions and running reports in an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) application required. Microsoft Word and Excel required. Microsoft Access preferred. Auditing of financial data preferred. Ability to meet deadlines while focusing on and maintaining multiple projects. Positive communication skills to interact with individuals and groups.
