Job Summary
Assists referring physicians, radiologists and technologists in Diagnostic Imaging workflow. Interact with patients so as to provide a high level of patient satisfaction. Provide scheduling assistance as needed.
Essential Functions
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES: Demonstrate the required job specific technical/professional knowledge, skills and abilities. * 1. Demonstrate knowledge of all procedures and patient preparations of all imaging modalities. 2. Schedules patients for Diagnostic Imaging exams in the Paragon HIS. 3. Rotate between Radiology reception area, 6 customer phone lines With no change in performance quality. 4. Greets and directs patient to waiting area and notifies modality of patient's arrival. Monitors waiting area to prevent delays in service and notify Supervision when needed. 5. Verify proper order generation from Hospital Information System (HIS). Manually enter patient orders into HIS when needed. 6. Troubleshoot all physician requests. 7. Assists Radiologist track and recall abnormal patients and insure follow-up by coordinating and scheduling follow up appointments for the patient for their imaging exams with the physician’s offices. 8. Maintain contact with technologist on-call for emergent cases. 9. Answer phone within 3 rings, using approved phone script. 10. Distribute patient reports when needed. 11. Perform other duties as needed in the department. CUSTOMER SERVICE: 1. Demonstrates the ability to create a positive interaction with the customer. 2. Demonstrates positive communication with people of different cultures, values and beliefs. 3. Demonstrates the ability to acknowledge customer concerns and takes corrective action. 4. Demonstrates compliance with identified customer service behaviors. 5. Provides escort to customers when necessary. PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT: 1. Participates in Department/Hospital-wide activities which improve processes and/or outcomes. 2. Utilizes resources to maintain and improve self development and knowledge. 3. Complies with licensure and/or certification requirements. 4. Participates in annual competency assessment. BUDGET: 1. Demonstrates fiscally prudent use of equipment and supplies. 2. Utilizes charge process for supplies/equipment. PROJECTS/ASSIGNMENTS: 1. Completes projects/assignments within projected time frames and expectations.
Qualifications
High School Required or GED Required General secretarial skills (keyboard skills, filing) Knowledge of PACS, Paragon, and Powerscribe. Radiology experience preferred.
