The Investigator Payments Lead is accountable for the end-to-end management of site and investigator payments across assigned clinical studies. The role involves coordinating payment-related activities, monitoring vendor performance, and ensuring payments are delivered accurately, compliantly, and within agreed timelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the end-to-end administration of investigator and site payments across assigned clinical studies, from study start-up through to close-out.
  • Ensure payment systems are configured accurately, including study budgets, payment triggers, visit schedules, and invoiced activities.
  • Support study start-up activities by planning and coordinating payment-related milestones to enable timely site payments.
  • Review and validate EDC and payment data to ensure accurate payment generation and resolve any payment discrepancies or failures.
  • Provide guidance on the setup and maintenance of site contracts and budgets within payment systems, ensuring alignment with contractual agreements.
  • Manage relationships with external vendors and service providers, ensuring payments, invoices, and queries are handled efficiently and in line with agreed standards.
  • Investigate and resolve complex payment issues involving contracts, budgets, regulatory requirements, tax considerations, currencies, and site-specific circumstances.
  • Monitor payment performance across studies, identifying trends, risks, and root causes of delays while implementing corrective actions.
  • Ensure appropriate funding, purchase orders, contracts, and work orders are in place to support uninterrupted payment processing.
  • Resolve escalated site and study-level payment issues in a timely manner to maintain a positive site experience.
  • Support audit, inspection, and compliance activities related to investigator payment processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to drive process improvements and enhance operational efficiency.

Skills & Experience required

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in clinical research, site payments, contracts, finance, budgeting, or clinical operations.
  • Strong understanding of clinical trial processes, site budgets, and investigator payment methodologies.
  • Experience working within a CRO, sponsor, or clinical research environment.
  • Experience interpreting contracts, budgets, and payment terms with a high level of accuracy.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across teams.
  • Proven problem-solving abilities and experience resolving complex operational issues.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment.
  • High attention to detail and a commitment to delivering accurate, compliant work.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other business systems.
