JOB DESCRIPTION: Position Summary The primary functions of this position is verification that all supplier documentation for the North America regional is complete, accurate and conforms to all relevant Abbott Nutrition requirements and testing for release of designated packaging materials to manufacturing for further processing, filling, and finishing. Main Responsibilities The department is responsible for accurately and carefully performing testing and documentation review for multiple sites. Perform all administrative functions (filing, various electronic systems, etc.) as error free as possible. The department is responsible for inspection and disposition of designated packaging materials subject to an acceptance program. Perform the appropriate methods and/or acceptance programs and provide technical support as required. Perform all duties/tasks relating to the testing and releasing of designated packaging material to support production. Be available on a daily basis to support team goals, follow through on assigned duties/tasks with minimal supervision, and readily accept non-routine tasks when directed. Follow all manuals, procedures and methods to ensure compliance with policies and other requirements. Follow through appropriately with all out of specification conditions, investigations and non-conformances. Complete all required training in a timely manner. Including new methods, procedures, deviations etc. to ensure all personnel are up to date on relevant changes. Observes all safety rules and regulations. Reports incidents, near misses chemical spills in the proper manner to supervisor. Completes project work as assigned by supervision and management. This may include troubleshooting and maintenance of equipment and test methods, maintaining related documentation, coordinating efforts with vendors/plant/Division personnel, developing appropriate training classes. Responsible for maintaining an adequate inventory of all supplies related to the Regional Incoming Laboratory. Responsible for training new analysts on all laboratory operations which includes methods, procedures, documentation, maintenance and safety. Have a good understanding of the manufacturing process systems to assist in decisions made concerning products. Use computer programs for spreadsheets and word processing. Accountability The analyst may require some assistance from the supervisor in organizing and directing his/her workload. With training, the analyst should be able to direct his/her own work. This position is responsible for a high level of attention to detail in reviewing of documentation and following proper lab procedures, in ensuring the proper functionality of lab equipment and in completing related documentation. An error in any of these areas could cause an incorrect batch adjustment, and possible release to market with an out-of-specification result. This could result in product recall if detected, or possible serious health risk if not detected. Additional testing and scrutiny could also occur, possibly resulting in a delay of the batch to market or possible batch destruct, which adds substantial costs to the manufacture of the product. This position is responsible for ensuring all documented testing is within compliance and product quality concerns are reported when appropriate. This position is also accountable for following lab procedures safely and efficiently. This position is accountable for complying with applicable FDA (GMP), USDA, OSHA, Kosher dietary requirements, Halal dietary requirements and Abbott regulations, policies, procedures or guidelines. Shift: 2nd shift, Mon-Fri. Qualifications High school diploma (or equivalent) plus work experience. Ability to follow verbal instructions, recognize signs, follow written directions, prepare simple reports, read and record gauge and display readings with moderate assistance from supervisor. Mathematics knowledge would include addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, decimals, fractions, proportions, and basic keyboard skills, computer skills and statistical comprehension is desirable. Physical requirements for lifting and pushing 20-25 lbs. in addition to normal laboratory work. The ability to effectively communicate with other analysts, operators, and management with varying levels of education and experience. Also recognizing the sometimes conflicting roles of manufacturing and quality assurance, and the ability to maintain clear priorities, and stay in compliance at all times. Able to effectively train new analysts on all procedures and methods in the laboratories. This position requires a high level of flexibility, adaptability and personal accountability due to the type and timing of the work involved. This position requires having a good understanding of the manufacturing process systems to assist in decisions made concerning products. Must be able to identify and solve immediate problems in the absence of the supervisor, troubleshoot all testing problems, recognize and report method procedure problems and out-of-specification conditions, and is expected to perform all Analysts’ functions. The base pay for this position is $19.05 – $38.15/hour In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
