For more information, please visit solera.com. The Role The Director of Engineering owns the end-to-end delivery of one or more products, holding full accountability for their technical health, roadmap execution, and business outcomes. You will directly lead a multi-layered organization of managers, senior managers, and individual software engineers while also operating as a hands-on leader who delegates and orchestrates work across AI software development agents to accelerate delivery. This is a modern engineering leadership role: part people leader, part technical owner, and part force-multiplier who treats AI harnesses as a core part of the team's capacity. You will balance a portfolio of greenfield product builds and modernization of existing systems, driving both through a shared platform approach, our enterprise data lake, and strong AI tooling. A qualified candidate is a seasoned engineering leader who is equally comfortable coaching managers, owning architecture design, and getting into the details of CI/CD and delivery pipelines. You bring strong technical judgment, a bias for reuse and platform leverage, and the ability to translate business strategy into shipped software. This position connects strategy to execution. You will deliver reliable, scalable products faster by combining exceptional human teams with AI-accelerated development. What You’ll Do Own the delivery and technical outcomes of one or more products from strategy and roadmap through architecture, build, launch, and ongoing operation Directly manage and grow a team of managers, senior managers, and software engineers - hiring, coaching, setting performance expectations, and building a high-accountability, high-trust culture Delegate to and orchestrate AI software development agents as an integral part of your delivery capacity. Defining tasks, reviewing agent output, and establishing guardrails so AI-accelerated work meets quality, security, and architectural standards Own architecture design for your products, partnering closely with central architecture teams on cross-cutting changes while retaining decision-making authority for your domain Own and continuously improve CI/CD pipelines, ensuring fast, safe, automated build-test-deploy flows and strong engineering practices across all teams Drive a platform-first approach, maximizing reuse of shared services and platform capabilities rather than rebuilding, and contributing improvements back to the platform Leverage the industry leading data lake to inform product decisions, power data-driven features, and enable analytics and AI capabilities across your products. Lead a portfolio balancing greenfield product development and modernization of existing systems, sequencing investment to manage risk, tech debt, and time-to-value Establish and enforce engineering standards for quality, security, reliability, observability, and cost efficiency across human- and AI-produced code Partner cross-functionally with Product, Design, Architecture, Security, and business stakeholders to align priorities and translate strategy into delivery commitments Report on delivery health, risks, and outcomes to senior leadership, and manage capacity, budget, and resourcing across your organization What You’ll Bring 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 6+ years leading engineering teams, with proven experience managing other managers (managers of managers) A track record of owning and shipping products end to end, across both greenfield builds and large-scale modernization/re-platforming efforts Hands-on experience delegating to and orchestrating AI development agents or AI coding tools, with a clear point of view on how to integrate AI harnesses into the software delivery lifecycle responsibly Strong architecture and system design skills, with the ability to own architectural decisions and partner effectively with central architecture teams Deep expertise in CI/CD, DevOps practices, and modern engineering workflows (automated testing, infrastructure-as-code, observability, secure delivery). Experience building on platform / shared-services approaches and leveraging data lake / data platform capabilities to accelerate delivery and enable data- and AI-driven features Excellent people leadership skills hiring, coaching, performance management, and developing both managers and senior individual contributors Strong business and communication skills, able to align technical execution with strategy and communicate clearly with senior stakeholders A bias for reuse, automation, and leverage and comfort operating amid ambiguity across a portfolio of products It is impossible to list every requirement for, or responsibility of, any position. Similarly, we cannot identify all the skills a position may require since job responsibilities and the Company’s needs may change over time. Therefore, the above job description is not comprehensive or exhaustive. The Company reserves the right to adjust, add to or eliminate any aspect of the above description. The Company also retains the right to require all employees to undertake additional or different job responsibilities when necessary to meet business needs.
