Job Description Summary We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Power Transformer Mechanical Designer to join our team at our Large Transformer Manufacturing Unit. The ideal candidate will have experience in the mechanical design of power transformers, including internal connections design, internal layouts, tank and external designs, and customer-specific drawings. A strong knowledge of national and international design standards (such as IS, CEA, IEC, IEEE, ISO) and expertise in 3D CAD tools (like Inventor and Creo) are essential. The role may require travel to customer sites and collaboration with other teams. Job Description Key

Responsibilities

Design and develop mechanical components for power transformers, including internal connections, internal layouts, and tank/external designs. Create detailed customer-specific drawings as per requirements and specifications. Work closely with the electrical engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure design feasibility, quality, and timely delivery. Ensure that designs adhere to national and international such as IS, CEA, IEC, IEEE, ISO and any applicable regulatory or industry-specific guidelines. Regularly review and update design procedures to comply with the latest standards and best practices. Use 3D CAD tools (primarily Inventor and Creo) to create accurate and efficient mechanical designs, ensuring that all components fit together correctly and function as intended. Develop and maintain CAD models, drawings, BOM preparation and documentation (PDM Software) related to transformer designs. Work with cross-functional teams including electrical engineers, project managers, and quality assurance teams to ensure successful project execution. Provide technical support and guidance to other teams and assist in resolving design-related issues during production or testing phases. Travel to customer sites when required to gather requirements, conduct design reviews, or provide technical support during installation and commissioning phases. Key

Requirements

Education

Bachelor’s degree / Diploma or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

Experience

Proven experience in designing mechanical components for power transformers, with a focus on internal connections, layouts, and external tank designs.

Experience

in customer-specific drawing preparation, ensuring alignment with their technical and regulatory requirements. Strong proficiency in using 3D CAD tools such as Inventor or Creo for design and modelling. Knowledge: Understanding of IS, CEA, IEC, IEEE, ISO standards and their application in transformer mechanical design. Knowledge of power transformer technologies and industry standards is essential. Familiarity with manufacturing processes and materials used in transformer design. Proficiency in English is required. Travel

Requirements

Ability and willingness to travel for customer site visits, design reviews, and technical support. Personal Skills: Good problem-solving abilities and attention to detail. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural team environment. Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience

in transformer design for high-voltage applications. Familiarity with transformer testing and validation processes. Knowledge of structural analysis software for transformer components.
