Responsibilities
Understand and define the engineering problem, project scope, objectives and expected deliverables in coordination with global engineering counterparts. Develop an appropriate engineering analysis/simulation approach for assigned projects, seeking guidance for complex or unfamiliar problems as required. Independently execute assigned FEA and engineering analysis projects supporting Product Development, Submittal, Sustaining Engineering and field failure investigations. Interpret and critically evaluate simulation results, identify potential structural or vibration-related concerns, and provide sound engineering recommendations. Perform appropriate hand calculations and engineering assessments to support design decisions and validate/interrogate simulation results. Support product design optimization, troubleshooting and resolution of engineering issues, including field failure investigations and vibration-related problems. Prepare and communicate engineering calculations, FEA reports and technical deliverables to meet project requirements and applicable engineering standards. Coordinate with global and cross-functional teams to discuss analysis requirements, communicate findings, incorporate feedback and complete assigned engineering deliverables. Willing to travel to local/global sites for short- to long-duration assignments based on business needs. Must have Strong understanding of Mechanical Engineering fundamentals, structural mechanics and FEA principles. Hands-on experience with ANSYS Mechanical / Workbench or equivalent FEA software. Good working knowledge of static structural analysis, including appropriate material properties, boundary conditions, contacts and loading conditions. Understanding of material and contact nonlinearities and their appropriate application in FEA. Good understanding of vibration fundamentals and structural dynamics. Ability to perform engineering hand calculations and critically evaluate FEA results using sound engineering judgment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with global and cross-functional teams. Good to have
Experience
with pumps, rotating equipment or other mechanical equipment and vibration-related engineering problems.
Experience
with field failure investigation, troubleshooting and root-cause analysis using FEA and engineering calculations. Knowledge of engineering standards such as ASME, API, Hydraulic Institute or equivalent.
Experience
with Creo/NX or other 3D CAD software.
Qualifications
Full Time M.Tech. / M.E. in Machine Design, Mechanical Engineering or CAD/CAM. 2–3 years of relevant hands-on FEA / structural simulation experience in a product development or engineering environment.
