[PUB-WRN] Sr Engineer, Water Reclamation Network
Job description
[What the role is] This role is with the Operation and Maintanence Division of the Water Reclamation (Network) Department. Management of used water network in Singapore is key in safeguarding public health and water resources. Used water is also a water resource. By collecting every drop of used water and ensuring every drop is fit for recycling, NEWater is produced as a sustainable source of supply to meet Singapore’s water demand. You will be part of the team responsible to operate and maintain this delicate and intrinsically complex network. As a mechanical engineer in Water Reclamation (Network), you will play a key role in operating and maintaining the used water network system. In the process, you will appreciate the intricacies of the network and play an important role towards water sustainability. [What you will be working on] Monitor to ensure that condition assessment and maintenance of mechanical equipment are carried out in accordance with schedule without disruptions to the operations of pumping installations or to used water conveyance. This will also require deep analysis of the flow data and pumped data for each pumping installations. Carry out technology sourcing and conduct trials of technologies or tools that can monitor health of mechanical equipment. Evaluate the feasibility of the tools/technologies for long term use and the implementation schedules. Analyse sensor data, diagnose and identify cause of abnormalities for mechanical equipment and carry out troubleshooting or rectification procedures to resolve the abnormalities effectively and safely. Review technical drawings, specifications and schematics of new mechanical equipment and oversee the testing and commissioning of new mechanical equipment/system Lead root cause analysis of mechanical equipment breakdowns and propose solutions/areas for improvements. Review recommended repair works/solutions to ensure adherence to required quality standards. Review maintenance plans, schedules, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for inspection, testing and maintenance of mechanical equipment. Plan and manage the manpower resources and expenditures of term contracts used for the maintenance of mechanical equipment and related spare parts. Draft, call and evaluate tender proposals for term contracts that are used for maintenance of mechanical equipment and related spare parts. Liaise with contractors on tasks, activities and progress of deployment of response plans, maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting and rectification of defects to mechanical equipment. Ensure that all work activities are carried out safely, in accordance with safe work procedures, contract specifications and statutory requirements and with minimal impact/disruption to used water conveyance. Review condition assessment and maintenance reports submitted by contractors to ensure works were carried out in order before recommending for acceptance.
