About this role: Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Software Engineer. In this role, you will: Lead complex technology initiatives including those that are companywide with broad impact Act as a key participant in developing standards and companywide best practices for engineering complex and large scale technology solutions for technology engineering disciplines Design, code, test, debug, and document for projects and programs Review and analyze complex, large-scale technology solutions for tactical and strategic business objectives, enterprise technological environment, and technical challenges that require in-depth evaluation of multiple factors, including intangibles or unprecedented technical factors Make decisions in developing standard and companywide best practices for engineering and technology solutions requiring understanding of industry best practices and new technologies, influencing and leading technology team to meet deliverables and drive new initiatives Collaborate and consult with key technical experts, senior technology team, and external industry groups to resolve complex technical issues and achieve goals Lead projects, teams, or serve as a peer mentor Required
Qualifications
5+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education Desired
Qualifications
5 years of software engineering experience with strong expertise in Java and enterprise application development. Proven experience designing and developing Spring Boot based microservices architectures for large-scale, high-volume applications. Strong hands-on experience in React and modern frontend development, including Micro Frontend Architecture implementation and integration. Deep understanding of event-driven architectures using Apache Kafka, including message design, resiliency patterns, and performance optimization. Strong experience with MongoDB and NoSQL database design, data modeling, indexing, and performance tuning. Demonstrated ability to design scalable, secure, and highly available distributed systems.
Experience
defining application architecture, design standards, coding best practices, and conducting technical reviews. Solid understanding of REST APIs, API security, authentication/authorization, and integration patterns.
Experience
working in cloud-native environments and containerized platforms such as Kubernetes/OpenShift. Strong knowledge of CI/CD, DevSecOps practices, automated testing, and production support processes. Extensive experience in the Banking and Financial Services domain, including customer onboarding, account servicing, workflow automation, regulatory compliance, and operational risk considerations. Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions and provide technical leadership across cross-functional teams.
Experience
mentoring engineers, leading design discussions, and driving engineering excellence across teams. Strong analytical, problem-solving, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
