Description of Work Reporting directly to the Administrative Officer I, this position provides administrative support to a multi-custody male correctional facility by performing Human Resources duties, such as Personnel Action Requests. Other job responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following: 1. Answering telephones, directing phone calls, and taking and delivering messages to staff. 2. Serving as the point of contact for facility Worker's Compensation claims which includes completing & submitting all Logs/Summaries. 3. Possessing knowledge of Leave of Absence (LOA) actions, Family Medical Leave (FML), and the separations process. 4. Acting as benefits liaison for New Hires and during Open Enrollment. 5. Acting as expert regarding the hiring process. 6. Keying employee actions into FIORI and following through to completion of each action. 7. Utilizing the FIORI system to administer all areas of time and leave management. 8. Correcting time entries on an as needed basis. 9. Troubleshooting leave or pay problems which pertain to negative leave balances or payroll discrepancies. 10. Overseeing the accrual and usage of compensatory time to include holiday comp, gap hours, and overtime comp. 11. Managing the adverse weather leave liabilities. 12. Providing information to employees on policies surrounding time and leave management. 13. Providing information to employees on all benefits related to employment. 14. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with established working hours of Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm and may require working beyond normal work schedule to meet business needs. About Central Prison: Central Prison in Raleigh, NC has been in continuous service since 1884. It serves as the admission point into prison for adult male felons sentenced to 20 years or more and is the main medical and mental health center for male offenders. It also houses special populations, including death row and safe-keepers. While security requires that certain offenders remain in their cells, there are more than 260 offender job assignments that include working in the kitchen, laundry or canteen. Offenders also work as barbers, janitors and clerks. Offenders can attend substance abuse group therapy meetings, Bible studies or worship services.
