Position Summary

The Mold Technician is responsible for inspecting structures for mold contamination and water damage, assessing indoor air quality, and identifying appropriate remediation methods. The incumbent is responsible for meeting with customers to answer questions and provide consultation on mold and mildew prevention, remediation, and removal, and for building strong customer relationships while following company procedures. This position requires flexibility, strong time management, problem-solving, and the ability to work in a team.

Essential Functions

  • Visit customer sites and inspect structures for mold contamination and water damage
  • Perform initial walk-through evaluations with the customer
  • Meet with customers to answer questions and provide consultation services regarding prevention, remediation, and removal of mold and mildew
  • Measure air quality and humidity levels using appropriate testing equipment
  • Collect material and air samples to identify mold and mildew types
  • Determine the appropriate chemicals and treatment methods for remediation and sanitation
  • Install fans and drying equipment to dry affected spaces
  • Conduct post-remediation testing and diagnostics to confirm results
  • Represent the company in a professional and positive manner
  • Provide great customer service and satisfaction
  • Respond quickly to customer problems or issues
  • Document job details, findings, and recommendations in accordance with company policy
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • 1+ year construction, environmental services, HVAC, or building maintenance experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of mold science, moisture intrusion, and remediation best practices
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work within and meet established deadlines
  • Punctual
  • Mechanically inclined
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Highly organized and attention to detail
  • Must have a clean background, a valid driver's license and clean driving history

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • This job operates primarily in a field environment and routinely requires walking, climbing ladders, and lifting of equipment
  • The job requires good physical health and ability to perform hands-on construction and remediation work
  • Capable of occasionally working in crawl spaces, in attics, and on roofs
  • Must be able to regularly lift 60 pounds
  • Ability to stand on your feet up to 8 hours a day

Travel Required

  • Daily local travel in company vehicle

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Mold assessment/remediation certification (e.g., IICRC or applicable state licensure), or ability to obtain this certification within established timeline upon hire
  • Self-starter with a proven track record of working independently
  • Ideal candidates should have some experience in any of the following trades but not required: Construction, Environmental Services, HVAC, General Labor, Plumbing, etc.
