Duties

The Senior Community Coordinator (SCC) has a supervisory role for the live-on staff and manages the 24/7 duty shift, routine incidents, and facilitates the management of emergency situations. The SCC provides direct supervision for 4-5 Community Coordinators and reports to the Dean of Students. The selected candidate will also perform all other Community Coordinator job responsibilities including hall management and supervision, desk and on-call duties, emergency response and incident management, community and wellness programming, student support and discipline and committee work and community policy writing. Live-on staff serve as front-line responders for student and residence hall emergencies. Live-on staff serve “in loco parentis” for each student residing at NCSSM and, along with counselors, academic advisors, and parents/guardians, are an integral member of the student support team. In addition, SCCs and Community Coordinators are the primary point of contact for students’ families and work closely with faculty and staff members across campus to support students. SCCs and Community Coordinators are responsible for building community within their designated residence hall and serving as a primary resource for their residents. SCCs and Community Coordinators predominantly work non-traditional hours either directly with students or on a rotating duty shift; evening and weekend work are required. In order to provide appropriate supervision and support to their residents, Senior Community Coordinators are assigned an unfurnished, on-campus apartment; internet and utilities (i.e. water, electricity, and local phone) and meals in the school dining hall are provided. Senior Community Coordinators are considered essential personnel on campus. If emergencies occur (examples include but are not limited to weather related or medical issues), Community Coordinators are expected to be on campus working with students and making sure that essential functions of campus continue. Senior Community Coordinators function as part of the Student Services leadership team to manage personnel and ensure key functions occur to support students and NCSSM.
