About the Role

Join a small, high-caliber founding team at a pre-seed AI-native fintech startup building the future of private market operations. We're creating infrastructure that powers fund accounting, reporting, reconciliation, and treasury automation — designed from the ground up with a deep focus on permissions, auditability, traceability, and observability across both hosted and self-hosted deployments.

As a Backend Engineer, you'll have real ownership over core backend systems at an early stage, working alongside a tight-knit team to ship production-grade software in a high-stakes financial services environment.

What You'll Do

• Own and manage backend infrastructure for permissions, auditability, traceability, and observability
• Design and oversee deployment architectures for both hosted and self-hosted environments using infrastructure-as-code tools
• Continuously improve system reliability, performance, and security in production
• Partner closely with product teams to deliver new features while maintaining rigorous quality standards
• Drive AI-native development practices that enable rapid, high-quality releases

What We're Looking For

Required:

• 1–6 years of backend development experience
• Proficiency in TypeScript and NestJS for building backend services
• Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL and Prisma in production-grade environments
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or Pulumi to manage deployments

Nice to have / Tech context:

• Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools (e.g. Inngest) or agentic frameworks
• Experience working in fintech, private markets, or enterprise SaaS environments
• Comfort operating in a fast-moving, early-stage startup environment with a high degree of autonomy

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary: €70,000 – €110,000 per year, depending on experience
• Visa sponsorship is available
• Early-stage equity opportunity (founding team hire)

Location

This is an on-site role based in Berlin, Germany. You'll be working daily with a co-located founding team. Relocation support and visa sponsorship are available for the right candidate.
