Job TitleSenior Utilities Metering Systems Technician Agency Texas A&M University Department Utilities & Energy Services Proposed Minimum SalaryCommensurate Job LocationCollege Station, Texas Job TypeStaff Job Description A Glimpse of the Job The Senior Utilities Metering Systems Technician is responsible for installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, replacing and inspecting electric meters and water metering systems. Uses metering software to setup meter parameters, download meter data, and integrate meters and sensors into meter PLCs and meter software. Essential Duties/Tasks: Meter Technician - Install and setup electric metering devices, chilled and heating hot water, domestic water, steam, and irrigation metering and PLC’s. Install and setup temperature sensors. This will require driving a university vehicle to different university locations. Maintains up to date working knowledge of relevant regulatory issues and technological changes in the metering of utilities. Documentation - Document metering locations. Works with GIS resources to show meter locations on drawings. Maintenance / Repair - Performs maintenance and repair of utilities metering components and systems. This will require driving a university vehicle to different university locations. Other

Duties

- Contributes to a safe work environment by reporting accidents and unsafe working conditions, uses proper personal protective equipment, follows safety procedures outlined in Material Safety Data Sheets, and participates in safety training. Experience

High School diploma or equivalent Five years of experience in installation, maintenance, or repair of instrument rated digital electric or water meters, programming of electric or water meters, or other related experience. Required Licenses and Certifications: Must have a valid Texas Class “C” Driver’s License or the ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience

installing electrical meters and meter related PLCs.

Experience

working with 24v, 120/240v wiring. Capable of interpreting electrical and mechanical construction drawings and specifications. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others. Ability to read and comprehend written and oral instructions in English and communicate effectively. Additional Information Machines or equipment used in the performance of essential duties: Computer 10 hrs. Hand tools 5 hrs. Electronic testing equipment 10 hrs. University vehicle 5 hrs.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to climb stairs and ladders, stand for extended periods of time, and will frequently be required to lift moderate to heavy weighing materials.
