Job Summary
The Field Technician is responsible for supporting the installation, startup, commissioning, maintenance, and repair of Flygt submersible wastewater pumps and associated control panels at customer sites. This role includes troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical equipment, performing preventative maintenance, responding to emergency service needs, and providing professional customer service. The technician will work directly with customers and may work independently or as part of a team in a variety of industrial and outdoor environments. Responsibilities
Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on submersible wastewater pumps and related equipment. Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues on pumps and control panels. Read and interpret basic electrical schematics and wiring diagrams. Support equipment startups, commissioning, and emergency service calls. Operate and maintain a company service truck equipped with a crane and outriggers. Safely operate shop equipment, including forklifts and overhead cranes. Use company-provided hand and power tools to complete service work safely and effectively. Document service activities accurately using Xylem's work order management system. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while following company and customer safety procedures. Communicate professionally with customers regarding equipment condition, service activities, and recommendations. Work collaboratively with teammates while also completing assignments independently. Maintain company tools, equipment, vehicles, and other property in good working condition.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required. 0–2 years of technical work experience preferred.
Experience
with mechanical equipment, electrical systems, pumps, industrial equipment, automotive, diesel, HVAC, or related technical fields is a plus. Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude. Ability to troubleshoot equipment and identify potential issues. Ability to understand technical information and communicate findings clearly. Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and mobile devices. Strong communication and customer service skills. Ability to work safely in industrial and customer environments. Requirements
Daily local travel to customer sites is required. Overnight travel up to 50% may be required depending on location and business needs. This position requires operating a company service vehicle. Candidates must have and maintain a valid driver's license and a clean driving record that meets company standards. Physical Requirements
Work is performed primarily outdoors at customer locations and in industrial shop environments. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required. Work may involve exposure to industrial equipment and machinery, wet and wastewater environments, hazardous materials, loud noise, and varying weather conditions. The estimated pay range for this position is $30 to $33 per hour.
