Job Summary
Under the close supervisor of the Recreation Specialist- Aquatics, A Swim Team Coach is responsible for expanding and perfecting the swim team’s abilities and always ensuring the safety of the swimmers. . Creating a variety of work outs and being able to teach correct competitive strokes using various swimming techniques, drills, and games. Evaluates individual and team performance, explains techniques, and assists with skills improvement. Monitor pool activities during swim meets and practices. Swim Team Coach should show a genuine interest in all swimmers and enthusiasm in their coaching. The City of Lakewood is currently recruiting variable employees for this position. Responsibilities
Coaching weeknights (CARA) and/or weekends (Master’s) Attendance at a variety of located Swim Meets on Weekends Office Tasks: Creating Swim Cards for Swim Meets, Emails to participants, Team Attendance, Swimming Awards, creating daily work outs, etc. Reporting Relationships Supervision Received: Receives general supervision from the Aquatics Specialist Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to deal effectively with participants and the public in a positive way. Ability to employ effective instructional methods and techniques, as well as the ability to model those techniques to participants. Background check required. Technological Skills Ability to operate Microsoft Office Suite to include, Outlook, Word and Excel.

Previous group swim team experience. (i.e. USA Swimming, Summer Club, etc.) Previous coaching experience Certification/Licenses/Specialized Training Current American Red Cross Standard First Aid and CPR Certifications or equivalent. Or in the process of obtaining the certifications
Pay Range
$14.81-$57.41 Background and reference checks will be conducted for all regular and some variable/seasonal positions. Part-time employees earn 6 hours per month. Vacation Full-time employees with less than five years of service earn 8 hours per month.
