Experience

Required! No law enforcement experience? No problem. Once hired, you will be paid while attending training and sponsored through the Utah POST Academy to obtain your Basic Corrections Officer Certification. Starting Pay: • Deputy Sheriff I – Corrections: $29.95/hour • Deputy Sheriff II – Corrections: $31.35–$36.06/hour (requires a minimum of 18 months of certified corrections experience) Minimum

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent • At least 19 years old to attend POST Academy • Valid driver’s license (Utah license required within 60 days of hire) Testing/Interview Process: Video Exam Candidates must score at least 70% on each section. Physical Fitness Test • 1.5-mile run in 17 minutes or less • 30-second plank • 10 push-ups without rest In-Person Interviews (2–3 Weeks After Testing) The top 18–25 ranked candidates will be invited to participate in an in-person interview with our hiring panel. Work Schedule: • 7 night shifts • 4 days off • 4 day shifts • 7 days off • 3 day shifts • 3 days off Then the schedule repeats. Testing is conducted every 2–3 months based on hiring needs. The most recent testing date took place on July 29, 2026. Applicants will be contacted when a new testing date has been scheduled. All testing communication and updates will be sent via email. Recorder The County Recorder keeps the official records of the county, recording mortgages, deeds, and other documents involving property. The Recorder also maintains up-to-date maps which show current ownership of every section of land. Sheriff The County Sheriff is the law enforcement officer in the county and is responsible for the preservation of the peace. The Sheriff and deputies make arrests and prepare legal papers for Sheriff's sale. The Sheriff also oversees the County Jail. Surveyor The County Surveyor Office identifies and protects the section corner monuments that define record title (real property) interests. The Surveyor Office acts as a depository for all records of survey and is responsible for performing survey work for Utah County. Health The Utah County Health Department seeks to prevent avoidable disease and injury, and promote health by monitoring the health of the community, and assuring conditions in which people can be healthy. Information Systems The Information Systems department provides technology support to all Utah County government agencies. This support includes acquisition, deployment and management of computer-based workstations, software applications, local and wide-area network infrastructure, security, and information use policy. Children's Justice Center The Children's Justice Center is a homelike facility which serves children and families who are experiencing the crisis and chaos that comes with the disclosure of significant physical or sexual abuse of a child. Human Resources The County Human Resources Office provides full Human Resource services including payroll and benefits for approximately 1,200 Utah County employees. Justice Court The Utah County Justice Court is established by Utah County and has the authority to deal with class B and C misdemeanors, violations of ordinances, small claims, and infractions committed within County jurisdiction. Public Works The Utah County Public Works Department is a multi-service Department within County government operating in the areas of Administration, Buildings, Engineering, Mapping, Motor Pool, Parks, Roads, Special Projects, Surveying and Telecommunications.
