We are looking for an experienced Fitter to join our close-knit workshop team, where you'll play a key role in pump maintenance, overhauls and rebuilds. You'll apply your technical skills in machining and precision measurement while supporting the delivery of high-quality solutions for the mining industry.

Experience

with Weir pumps and shutdown work will be highly regarded. What you’ll do • Workshop Maintenance: Perform pump stripping, inspection, measurement, rebuilding, and assembly work to OEM specifications primarily at the Wingfield workshop. • Field Service & Shutdown Support: Provide periodic field service and shutdown support, mainly in Whyalla and other mine sites as required, including night shifts and travel. • Measurement & Quality Control: Use micrometers, vernier callipers, and other precision tools to inspect components, assess tolerances, and support quality decisions during pump rebuilds. • Physical & Safety Demands: Undertake physically demanding, heavy, and sometimes dirty mechanical work, especially during shutdowns, while maintaining strong safety awareness. • Team Collaboration: Work effectively in small crews, communicate clearly, and collaborate across the workshop and broader business to meet time-sensitive shutdown schedules. • Travel

Requirements

Be comfortable traveling to Whyalla and other sites for shutdowns, including night shifts of 10 to 12 hours, with accommodation and allowances provided. • Safety First: Demonstrate 100% commitment to our zero harm behaviors in support of our drive towards developing a world-class safety culture. What you’ll bring Must-haves: • Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade or equivalent Fitter/Fitter and Turner qualification. • Proven experience in heavy industry, mining, quarrying, crushing, conveying, or similar industrial environments. • Competency in accurate mechanical measurement using micrometers, vernier callipers, and internal/external measuring techniques. • Strong safety focus with the ability to undertake physically demanding mechanical work safely.
