Job Description: ServiceNow Consultant – CMDB and Platform Capabilities Your role As Consultant, IT ServiceNow, you will help mature and scale Vantive’s ServiceNow platform capabilities during the spin-off program and ongoing post-separation operations. The initial focus of this role will be strengthening the Configuration Management Database (CMDB), including data quality, governance, integrations, CSDM alignment, and service-aware mappings. Over time, this consultant should be able to broaden across ServiceNow technologies and related IT process domains, contributing to platform strategy, roadmap execution, operational excellence, and business value realization. This role requires strong technical depth, consultative problem solving, adaptive learning, leadership, and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and third-party service providers. What you will be doing • Lead the maturation of ServiceNow CMDB capabilities, including configuration item data quality, class and relationship modeling, lifecycle governance, reconciliation, normalization, and alignment to the Common Service Data Model (CSDM). • Partner with infrastructure, application, security, and operations teams to improve discovery, service mapping, integrations, and dependency data that support incident, change, asset, risk, and operational processes. • Provide tool-agnostic expertise across IT process domains, including IT Service Management, IT Operations Management, and IT Asset Management • Contribute to the ServiceNow platform roadmap by identifying practical opportunities to improve governance, automation, usability, maintainability, compliance, and return on investment. • Design, configure, test, and enhance ServiceNow solutions that improve service quality, security, compliance, speed, and operational efficiency. • Mature development, testing, release, documentation, and support practices for the ServiceNow platform, including clear handoffs to operational support teams. • Translate business needs into scalable ServiceNow solutions by engaging stakeholders, clarifying requirements, documenting user stories, and recommending fit-for-purpose approaches. • Support platform security and compliance by applying appropriate access controls, secure configuration practices, auditability, and data protection considerations. • Lead and coordinate third-party solution providers, ensuring deliverables are clearly defined, aligned to Vantive standards, and completed with appropriate quality and accountability. What you will bring • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, management information systems, business, or a related field required. • 7+ years of experience in technology, engineering, IT operations, or related roles, including hands-on experience administering, configuring, or implementing the ServiceNow platform. • Strong ServiceNow CMDB experience, including CI class structures, relationship modeling, data quality, governance, reconciliation, normalization, and lifecycle processes. •
Experience
with CSDM, Discovery, Service Mapping, MID Servers, integrations, or ITOM capabilities strongly preferred. • Ability to learn and apply broader ServiceNow capabilities across ITSM, ITOM, ITAM, SPM, HRSD, reporting, workflow automation, and platform governance. •
Experience
delivering solutions in a highly regulated, global business environment. • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with business, technology, security, and vendor teams while holding service providers accountable for delivery. • Strong analytical, technical, and critical thinking skills, with the ability to diagnose complex platform, process, data, and integration issues. • Strong communication, facilitation, presentation, and influencing skills, with the ability to explain technical topics to non-technical stakeholders. • Curiosity, adaptability, and a continuous improvement mindset, with a willingness to broaden skills across ServiceNow technologies and connected enterprise platforms. • Previous large transformation, separation, merger, or platform modernization program experience desired. •
Experience
mentoring platform engineers, administrators, analysts, or vendor resources desired. • ServiceNow certifications desired, especially Certified System Administrator, CIS-CMDB, CIS-Discovery, CIS-Service Mapping, ITSM, ITOM, or related certifications.
