Pierce County Refuse Lemay, a Waste Connections company, is seeking a safety-focused Laborer/Yard Hostler to support daily operations at our commercial transfer station in Lakewood, Washington. This is a hands-on position responsible for maintaining safe traffic flow, moving trailers and containers throughout the yard, performing site cleanup, and supporting operational efficiency across the facility. The ideal candidate enjoys working outdoors, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and takes pride in maintaining a clean and safe workplace. Range of Pay: $25.00 - $26.00 per hour Schedule: This position typically works Monday through Friday from 5:30 AM to 3:45 PM, with occasional Saturday work and regular overtime as business needs require. Responsibilities

Direct and assist commercial truck traffic throughout the facility. Safely move, stage, and position trailers, containers, and equipment throughout the yard. Perform general labor duties including litter collection, sweeping, shoveling, and facility cleanup. Maintain traffic control and promote safe movement of vehicles and equipment. Conduct routine yard inspections and promptly report unsafe conditions. Assist equipment operators and operations personnel as needed. Support daily site operations, weather-related cleanup, and special projects. Operate equipment and vehicles in accordance with company policies and safety procedures, when qualified. Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work environment. Follow all safety, environmental, and operational procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience

working in labor, construction, warehouse, transportation, manufacturing, industrial, recycling, landfill, transfer station, or heavy equipment environments.

Experience

moving trailers, containers, or equipment in a yard environment. Hostler, yard spotter, equipment operator, or commercial driving experience.

Experience

working around trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment.

Physical Requirements

Frequently stand and walk for extended periods. Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds. Frequently bend, squat, kneel, climb, and perform repetitive motions. Work around moving vehicles, heavy equipment, trailers, and active operations. Work in varying weather conditions including rain, wind, heat, cold, dust, and noise. Required

Qualifications

Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions. Ability to safely perform physically demanding work throughout the shift. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong attention to safety and situational awareness. Reliable attendance and punctuality. Effective communication skills.
