Position Summary The Housekeeping/Cleaning Program Manager is responsible for ensuring the proper operation and performance of all aspects of a comprehensive sanitation and housekeeping program within a manufacturing and administrative environment. This role provides strategic oversight, operational management, and leadership to deliver exceptional cleanliness standards while maintaining full compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations. Responsibilities
Program Management The Housekeeping/Cleaning Program Manager oversees comprehensive sanitation operations across manufacturing and administrative facilities. This includes managing general housekeeping programs, coordinating emergency response cleanup operations, tracking housekeeping budgets, and reviewing contract scope changes. The role requires oversight of site contracted services, ensuring all housekeeping activities align with client expectations and organizational standards. Team Leadership and Operations Provide direct leadership and supervision to housekeeping supervisors, housekeeping staff, and vendor/contractor personnel. Manage daily client communication and provide detailed shift reporting to maintain transparency and operational excellence. Coordinate absentee and PTO coverage, plan and manage weekend work schedules, and oversee payroll management. Develop employee PTO and vacation scheduling to ensure adequate coverage while maintaining service continuity. Environmental Health & Safety Compliance Ensure full compliance with OSHA, state, and local regulatory requirements. Maintain HAZMAT (Hazardous Material) compliance and commodity resource management protocols. Support environmental compliance initiatives and ISO compliance safety-related objectives. Coordinate environmental emergency response procedures and ensure 100% employee safety training compliance. Perform timely safety incident reporting and monitoring, working diligently to maintain zero recordable and lost workday case injuries through effective pre-task planning methods. Training and Development Maintain comprehensive employee training schedules and records across multiple training programs. Ensure all team members receive appropriate safety training, operational procedures instruction, and ongoing professional development to enhance performance and maintain compliance standards. Performance Management Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) including safety compliance, client customer satisfaction surveys, and operational efficiency metrics. Utilize measurable objectives to drive continuous improvement and maintain the highest standards of service delivery.
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent work experience demonstrating progressive responsibility in housekeeping operations management.
Experience
Minimum of four years of industry experience in housekeeping or facilities management, preferably within manufacturing or industrial environments. Demonstrated experience managing housekeeping teams, contractor relationships, and comprehensive sanitation programs. Skills and Competencies Strong organizational and management skills with proven ability to coordinate multiple priorities effectively. Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills with demonstrated ability to build productive relationships with clients, team members, and vendors. Superior verbal and written communication skills with proven ability to provide clear direction to staff at all levels. Budget tracking and financial management capabilities. Deep understanding of environmental health and safety regulations, compliance requirements, and emergency response protocols.
