The Role As a Senior Software Engineer, you will join Xylem's Business Automation team, where we build the internal software platforms that power Finance, Operations, Engineering, Sales, and Supply Chain. Our team develops business-critical web applications, APIs, enterprise integrations, and automation solutions that replace manual processes and connect systems across the organization. In this hands-on role, you will design, develop, deploy, and support scalable business applications using Python, Django, PostgreSQL, and modern backend technologies. You will partner directly with business stakeholders to translate operational challenges into effective software solutions while helping modernize our application architecture, integration capabilities, and engineering practices. Responsibilities
Build and maintain REST APIs, backend services, and scalable application architectures supporting internal business processes. Design relational database schemas, develop complex SQL queries, and optimize PostgreSQL database performance. Develop integrations across enterprise platforms including ERP, CRM, HR, Finance, Engineeringand operational systems such as Dynamics AX, Salesforce, OneStream, and Workday. Partner with business stakeholders to translate operational requirements into reliable software solutions that improve efficiency and automation. Troubleshoot production issues, participate in code reviews, testing, and documentation activities, and contribute to modernization initiatives using technologies such as React and TypeScript. Required
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 5+ years of experience developing production software using Python. Strong experience developing applications with Django, Flask, FastAPI, or similar Python frameworks Strong SQL skills and experience designing relational databases.
Experience
designing and building REST APIs.
Experience
using Git and modern software development practices, including code reviews, testing, and deployment processes. Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience
with PostgreSQL, Linux, and Docker.
Experience
developing modern front-end applications using React and TypeScript.
Experience
with enterprise application integrations and business systems, including ERP and Finance platforms. Familiarity with Power BI or other business intelligence tools.
