About this role: Wells Fargo is seeking a Technology Director Head of Engineering for a strategic trade management within Commercial Corporate & Investment Bank Technology (CCIBT). This leader will define and execute the multi-year technology vision for the firm's next-generation Strategic Trade Management platform, driving modernization across trade capture, lifecycle processing, pricing, risk, settlement, and regulatory reporting capabilities. The Technology Director will build and lead high-performing engineering teams while partnering with senior business, trading, quantitative research, operations, and risk stakeholders to deliver innovative solutions that position Wells Fargo for future growth. The role requires a balance of deep capital markets expertise, executive leadership, engineering excellence, and organizational influence. As a senior technology leader, you will shape platform strategy, drive large-scale transformation initiatives, champion AI-enabled software delivery practices, and build a robust engineering organization capable of delivering enterprise-critical outcomes. Responsibilities

Technology Strategy & Platform Leadership Define and execute the long-term technology strategy and roadmap for Wells Fargo's Strategic Trade Management platform supporting Fixed Income and Derivatives businesses. Drive the transformation toward a unified, cloud-native architecture built on modern engineering principles, event-driven design patterns, and enterprise-grade scalability. Establish architectural standards, engineering governance, and platform modernization objectives aligned with business priorities. Lead technology investment planning and prioritization across multiple strategic initiatives. Organizational & People Leadership Build, develop, and lead high-performing engineering teams across multiple product and platform areas. Manage and mentor engineering managers, lead engineers, architects, and senior technologists. Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, continuous learning, and operational excellence. Drive talent acquisition, succession planning, workforce strategy, and leadership development within Capital Markets Technology. Capital Markets Transformation Lead large-scale modernization initiatives focused on trade lifecycle management, risk processing, valuation services, market data integration, and operational workflows. Oversee migration from legacy platforms to modern cloud-native architectures using distributed systems and real-time event processing frameworks. Champion AI-driven automation and intelligent workflow capabilities across software delivery and business processes. Ensure platforms support evolving business needs, regulatory requirements, and future product expansion. Business & Stakeholder Engagement Partner with senior leaders across Trading, Quantitative Research, Risk, Finance, Operations, and Compliance to align technology strategy with business objectives. Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership on technology direction, investment priorities, and platform transformation opportunities. Communicate complex technical strategies to executive audiences while translating business objectives into actionable engineering roadmaps. Influence enterprise architecture standards and technology decisions across Capital Markets technology organizations. Engineering Excellence & Delivery Establish best practices for software engineering, architecture, observability, resiliency, security, and operational readiness. Drive adoption of modern development approaches including CI/CD, cloud engineering, platform automation, and AI-assisted development tools. Ensure technology solutions meet stringent performance, scalability, resiliency, and regulatory standards. Oversee execution of complex technology programs with accountability for delivery quality, risk management, and business outcomes. Risk, Control & Regulatory Leadership Ensure technology platforms meet regulatory, audit, cybersecurity, and operational risk requirements. Partner with risk and compliance organizations to proactively identify and mitigate technology risks. Establish controls and governance frameworks supporting highly regulated capital markets environments. Required

Qualifications

10+ years of Technology Strategic Leadership experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education 4+ years of management or leadership experience 10+ years of technology leadership experience with significant experience supporting Capital Markets, Trading, or Financial Services organizations 10+ years of Fixed Income, Foreign Exchange, Commodities, and Derivatives trading workflows and trade lifecycle management 7+years of

leading modernization programs involving cloud-native architectures, distributed systems, event-driven platforms, and data-intensive applications 7+ years of

Experience

with technical foundation across Java, distributed systems, microservices, cloud technologies, data platforms, and modern software engineering practices Desired

Qualifications

Experience

leading strategic trading platform initiatives within a global investment bank or major financial institution Proven experience leading large engineering organizations and delivering strategic transformation initiatives Knowledge of industry trade lifecycle platforms, risk systems, pricing engines, and market infrastructure

Experience

implementing AI-enabled engineering practices and modern software delivery frameworks Strong understanding of cloud platforms, Kubernetes, OpenShift, platform engineering, and enterprise DevSecOps practices Knowledge of regulatory requirements impacting Fixed Income, Commodities, FX, and Derivatives businesses Proven track record of building and developing high-performing engineering leadership teams

Pay Range

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to demonstrated examples of prior performance, skills, experience, or work location. Employees may also be eligible for incentive opportunities. $215,000.00 - $355,000.00
