Behavioral Health Activity Therapist, PRN
Job description

Position Summary Responsible for coordinating the recreation, stress management, leisure planning, and activity groups for the in-patient unit. The activity therapist is responsible for completing the assessment and conducting activity therapy groups and documenting patient progress in progress notes. The activity therapist also participates in treatment team. As applicable, the activity therapist will participate in PI (performance improvement) committee meetings and serves as the units liaison to the hospitals rehabilitation department.
Education
Bachelor’s in Art, Music, Therapeutic recreation, Physical Education, Home Economics or an Associates in Occupational Therapy or Applied Science Human Services Licenses and Certification Valid BLS APC (Activity Professional Certified) within 6mths of hire Psychiatric Rehabilitation Certificate preferred

1 year of experience in activity therapy services in psychiatric, mental health, nursing home, or related setting preferred. Role Specific
Responsibilities
• Organizes, plans, and conducts the therapeutic activities program. • Provides activity therapy assessments, written treatment, and discharge plans in coordination with the patient’s overall treatment objectives. • Plans and conducts daily activity therapy group sessions and educational programs, with individual sessions as needed. • Following the interdisciplinary treatment plan and daily priorities of patients and need of the unit. • Assist in the maintenance of a safe a therapeutic milieu. • Attends and participates in designed treatment team meetings on all matters concerning the patient and/or family. • Completes routine paperwork within prescribed time frames and efficiently documents all pertinent and meaningful observations and information on individual progress notes. • Adheres to the general expectations for all employees in order that the program functions effectively to meet patients’ treatment needs. • Maintain email correspondence current.
