Job Summary

MacLean-Fogg is hiring an Industrial Maintenance Mechanic at our Savanna, Illinois manufacturing facility. You will diagnose equipment problems, complete preventive maintenance, and repair machinery and facility systems to support safe, reliable production.

  • Location: Savanna, IL
  • Work Arrangement: On-site
  • Schedule: 2nd Shift rotation, including weekends; up to seven consecutive days off depending on the rotation
  • Pay: $27-$30 per hour, based on relevant experience
  • Other Compensation: $2 per hour shift premium for all hours worked on the assigned shift; $3,000 sign-on bonus paid at $500 per month for six months; company-performance bonus eligibility
  • Employment Type: Full-time / Hourly

What You'll Do as an Industrial Maintenance Mechanic

  • Diagnose and repair breakdowns involving manufacturing machinery, utility systems, and facility equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and inspect equipment for worn, damaged, or malfunctioning components.
  • Safely use hand tools, power tools, precision measuring instruments, and testing equipment.
  • Read and apply equipment specifications, blueprints, schematics, manuals, and work instructions.
  • Complete maintenance records, work orders, inspection forms, and other required documentation accurately.
  • Communicate equipment conditions, repair status, safety concerns, and unresolved issues to appropriate team members.
  • Maintain clean, organized work areas and follow safety, environmental, quality, 5S, and lockout/tagout requirements.
  • Support urgent equipment repairs and production needs during the assigned schedule.

What You'll Bring

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least one year of experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Mechanical aptitude gained through employment, technical education, military service, or hands-on personal projects.
  • Ability to use common hand and power tools safely.
  • Ability to read and follow verbal and written work instructions.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and schematics.
  • Ability to organize work, manage multiple priorities, and complete tasks independently.
  • Ability to maintain clear and accurate maintenance records.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with production employees, maintenance colleagues, and internal customers.
  • Ability to work the full assigned rotation, including weekends.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous industrial maintenance, machinery repair, or equipment-service experience.
  • Technical-school coursework, apprenticeship training, or a certificate in industrial maintenance or a related trade.
  • Previous powered-industrial-equipment certification.
  • Experience using precision measuring or equipment-testing instruments.
  • Experience using a computerized maintenance management system.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

This role is performed in a manufacturing environment and involves using hands and fingers to operate tools, testing equipment, and machinery components. Employees in this position must maintain the manual dexterity required for mechanical repairs, stand and walk for extended periods, and frequently lift, carry, push, pull, or move equipment and components weighing up to 50 pounds.
