About the Opportunity: Brown University’s School of Professional Studies (SPS) brings a Brown education to new audiences of learners: those focused on development of skills and a breadth of knowledge necessary for professional success and leadership. We leverage Brown’s intellectual centers of excellence, rigorous teaching, and developmental approach to learning in a range of programs, including serving students outside of traditional degree programs. We partner with Brown departments, centers, institutes, and schools to develop degree and non-degree programs, and to support the recruitment, retention, and placement success of master’s students, including traditional, non-traditional, and professional students. Remote Part-Time Readers for Brown University School of Professional Studies assist the Enrollment Management Team in reading and completing initial reviews of applications for admissions. There is a high volume of applications in a select number of master’s programs. Seasonal outside reviewers will conduct pre-review of assigned applications and determine eligibility for review by the program. Major Tasks ● Conduct initial pre-review of applications of assigned programs ● Assign applications as eligible for further review by program ● Complete 20-25 hours of application review weekly ● Regularly communicate with Associate Dir. of Graduate Degree Enrollment regarding review process, application volume, and timeline
Job Qualifications
● Candidates must have their own computer and a stable internet connection. ● A Bachelors degree is required, along with at least one year of experience with application review. ● Must be available to work 20-25 hours per week, with some availability to attend meetings during core business hours (9-5 ET) Monday - Friday. ● Demonstrated ability to support a community of diverse perspectives and cultures in an inclusive environment. Preferred: ● Ideal candidates will have strong organizational and time management skills. ● Knowledge of non-US educational systems and curriculums, experience reviewing international credentials is recommended. ● Willingness and ability to apply institutional priorities in accordance with training. ● Willingness to accept feedback and quickly adapt to suggested modifications. ● Ability to maintain the strictest levels of discretion and confidentiality. ● Shows professionalism and effective communication skills both verbally and in writing. ● Prior experience in application review at the graduate level. ● Familiarity with subject areas including; Data Science, Computer Science, and/or Public Health All offers of employment are contingent upon the successful completion of a background check.
