Job Title: Research Senior Technician Department: Arts and Sciences | Molecular Genetics Administration The Kearse Lab in the Department of Molecular Genetics within the College of Arts and Sciences seeks a Research Senior Technician to join our team to study mRNA translation. The Research Senior Technician will be trained to independently conduct assigned experiments; maintain lab notebook and data storage; perform a variety of molecular, cellular, and biological research techniques and procedures including PCR reactions, gel electrophoresis, assays, cell cultures and Northern and Western analysis; test and evaluate current procedures; record, consolidate and assist with analysis of research results; assist in evaluating validity of data obtained from experimental procedures; summarize data for inclusion in grant proposals and manuscripts; prepare research progress reports; assist principal investigator with the preparation of publications, manuscripts, articles, posters, and abstracts; conduct library research on requested topics through researching current literature; oversee and maintain accurate records of laboratory activities; assist with training of junior research staff, and undergraduate and graduate students in research methods and equipment operation; set up and operate laboratory equipment; monitor research supply, including inventory and initiate procurement requests as needed. Minimum Qualifications Required Bachelor’s degree in biochemistry, molecular genetics, or a related field or equivalent experience. Equivalent experience can be 4 years of relevant experience required with High School diploma or GED, 2 years of relevant experience required with Associate's Degree, or 0 years of relevant experience required with Bachelor's Degree. Desired Qualifications At least 6 months of previous research experience outside of core coursework, research experience in RNA biology Additional Information: The College of Arts and Sciences is the largest college and the academic heart of the university. The pay range for this job profile is $19.28-$25.19. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications.
