Job description

The College of Engineering at Anderson University invites applications for adjunct faculty to teach undergraduate courses in support of its growing engineering programs. The College of Engineering offers degrees in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, General Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. Adjunct faculty members serve an important role in delivering high-quality instruction, mentoring students, and supporting Anderson University’s mission to provide academically rigorous, Christ-centered education. Course assignments are made on an as-needed basis and may vary by semester depending on enrollment, program needs, and faculty expertise. Adjunct faculty are expected to: Teach assigned undergraduate engineering courses in accordance with approved course descriptions, learning outcomes, and program expectations. Prepare syllabi, lectures, assignments, assessments, and instructional materials appropriate to the course. Deliver engaging, student-centered instruction that supports conceptual understanding, technical competency, and professional formation. Provide timely feedback on student work and maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student performance. Use the university’s learning management system and other instructional technologies as appropriate. Maintain reasonable availability to students for questions, academic support, and course-related guidance. Foster a respectful and professional learning environment consistent with Anderson University’s Christian mission and values. Collaborate with full-time faculty, program directors, and College leadership to ensure course quality and alignment with program goals. Support continuous improvement efforts related to student learning outcomes, assessment, and accreditation expectations as requested. Required

Qualifications

A master’s degree in engineering or a closely related field from an accredited institution. Demonstrated expertise in the subject area to be taught. Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Commitment to undergraduate teaching and student success. Support for the mission, values, and Christian identity of Anderson University.

Preferred Qualifications

A Ph.D. in engineering or a closely related discipline. Prior teaching experience at the college or university level. Relevant professional engineering or industry experience. Professional Engineer licensure or other relevant professional certification.

Experience

with project-based learning, laboratory instruction, design courses, or industry-sponsored projects. Familiarity with ABET student outcomes, assessment practices, or accreditation-related documentation. Ability to connect engineering theory with practical applications in industry, design, manufacturing, technology, or service.
