UR - Day (United States of America) Range: UR URG 111 Compensation Range: $64,200.00 - $96,200.00 The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
Responsibilities
The MTW-OPAL Opto-Mechanical Specialist will play a key role in the qualification and operation of the MTW-OPAL target area vacuum system, target positioner, as well as other target area diagnostics. The Opto-Mechanical Specialist will be responsible for maintenance, repairs, and calibration of all target area equipment ensuring the proper functionality and readiness of the newly qualified optical and mechanical systems. We are looking for someone who is excited to learn, exceptionally reliable, attentive to detail, and willing to take ownership of this exciting new area. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Working with Engineering and Laser Development team members to perform equipment upgrades/improvements, as well as resolve ongoing issues or deficiencies. Serving as instrument specialist for advanced system hardware and performing advanced calibration procedures without oversight. Performing maintenance per procedure and troubleshooting equipment issues as well as providing oversight to junior operators. Completing qualification and standing watch in the operation of highly specialized equipment for supporting MTW-OPAL operations. Performing system upgrade projects under the direction of a project manager. MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Associate's degree and 5 years of relevant experience required (in a technical position preferred) Or equivalent combination of education and experience KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Knowledge of the custom software that is used to run the laser, as well as commercial software. required Use of specialty software to operate certain experimental diagnostics. required Ability to operate mechanical rigging using overhead cranes. required Ability to operate several types of pumps, including cryogenic, roughing, and turbo. required Knowledge of radiological decontamination processes. required High attention to detail preferred Ability to work in a cleanroom environment Qualified as a Radiation Worker at time of hire is preferred otherwise must qualify within 12 months of hire under LLE’s direction Ability to lift 50 lbs
Experience
with repairing mechanical systems (including vacuum or pressurized systems) preferred Minor experience with optical systems (including alignment and troubleshooting) preferred
Experience
working in a team or leading a team preferred
Experience
using control software or working with PLC control systems preferred.
Experience
performing radiological management activities preferred. Proficient in Microsoft Office with the ability to learn additional software preferred.
