Fitness Instructor (FWS)
Job description
The Office of Student Engagement oversees community building programs, and seeks a student worker to support programming for commuter students. This position reports to the Associate Director for Recreation & Commuter Engagement. The New School was founded by forward-thinking educators in 1919 to defy the intellectual constraints of a traditional college education. Reporting to the Associate Director of Recreation, & Commuter Engagement, the Fitness Instructor will be responsible for leading fitness classes, creating content for social media accounts, and acting as the point-person for inquiries and class sign ups. RESPONSIBILITIES Serve as a student fitness instructor during a TNS fitness class. Create content for the Commuter Group’s NarwhalNation and Instagram pages. Reply to student inquiries related to the fitness class in question. Lead events in question with a fitness course/lesson plan. Support students in signing up for the class. Take class attendance per session. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Currently enrolled New School student who qualifies for Federal Work Study Demonstrated commitment to community building and teamwork Reliable, organized, and communicative Past fitness experience Ability to lead fitness sessions Able to manage a hybrid schedule with majority in-person hours PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Prior experience/certification working as a fitness instructor is preferred.
