Job Summary
This role manages income tax accounting, reporting, and compliance activities to ensure adherence to GAAP, IFRS, SEC reporting requirements, and federal, state, and local tax regulations. The position oversees tax reporting processes, internal controls, and assigned tax staff while supporting quarterly and annual financial reporting obligations. The role provides technical tax accounting expertise, leads tax research efforts, and serves as a key liaison with external auditors. Key
Responsibilities
Oversee income tax accounting and reporting processes to ensure compliance with GAAP, IFRS, SEC reporting requirements, and federal, state, and local tax regulations. Direct tax staff supporting tax accounting, reporting, and compliance activities. Execute SOX controls supporting quarterly and annual U.S. GAAP tax reporting requirements. Improve tax reporting and compliance processes while maintaining effective internal controls. Lead tax accounting research related to new GAAP and IFRS guidance, business transactions, and other technical matters. Prepare technical memoranda and supporting documentation for tax accounting positions and reporting requirements. Serve as the primary tax department contact for external auditors regarding tax disclosures, controls, and reporting matters. Manage the consolidation and assessment of effective tax rates used in budgeting and forecasting activities. Evaluate uncertain tax positions, valuation allowances, and unitary tax matters. Administer activities related to the Tax Allocation Agreement and associated tax reporting requirements. Required
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of corporate income tax accounting and reporting requirements under GAAP and IFRS. Knowledge of SEC tax reporting requirements. Understanding of corporate tax accounting and reporting processes. Demonstrated ability to manage projects and analyze complex tax accounting and reporting matters. Demonstrated ability to prepare technical tax documentation and communicate tax related information effectively. Proficiency with computer applications used to support tax accounting and reporting activities. Ability to train and develop other individuals while maintaining accountability for results.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Taxation. Juris Doctor (Law Degree). Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
Experience
in the energy industry.
