Senior Project Engineer

This position reports to: Senior Engineering Manager __ Your role and responsibilities The work model for the role is: {onsite} You will be mainly accountable for: E-House Technical Agreement Review: Responsible for reviewing technical agreements for E-Houses (prefabricated substations/power distribution rooms), identifying potential risks, and formulating technical requirements for E-House suppliers based on the agreements between ABB and customers. Continuously improve ABB Mining Division’s E-House technical standards based on past project execution experience. E-House Overall Design and GA Planning: Responsible for the overall internal layout design of E-Houses (prefabricated substations/power distribution rooms). Rationally plan the spatial positioning of electrical cabinets, air conditioning units, fire protection systems, smoke detectors, ventilation systems, stairs, and other equipment to ensure compliance with operational space, heat dissipation, maintenance access, and escape route requirements. HVAC and Fire Protection System Review: Review the design and equipment selection for HVAC and fire protection systems within E-House facilities. Perform heat load calculations and ensure that internal temperature control and fire protection ratings comply with relevant IEC standards and equipment operational requirements. Power Distribution System Support: Collaborate with E-House factory electrical design engineers and other ABB internal medium/low voltage design engineers to complete the layout and interface design of high/low voltage switchgear, ring main units (RMUs), variable frequency drives (VFDs), DC panels, UPS systems, bus ducts, cable trays, and other facilities within the E-House, ensuring adequate electrical safety clearances and rational wiring layouts. Factory Ehosue Internal Design Drawing Review: Review factory lighting diagrams, grounding diagrams, power distribution diagrams, and labeling drawings to ensure compliance with E-House specifications and customer requirements. Cable Schedule Design and Procurement: Work with E-House factory electrical engineers to develop internal cable selection and design for E-Houses. Compile procurement lists for internal E-House cables. Customer Technical Liaison: Serve as the primary technical contact, communicating directly with customers on technical matters. Accurately understand and translate customer technical requirements, and deliver technical proposals, technical agreements, and Q&A documents. FAT Participation: Participate in E-House Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and support customer factory inspections, requiring an estimated commitment of approximately 7-10 days per E-House. Documentation Management: Prepare and review relevant technical documents (such as GA drawings, BOM lists, technical specifications, internal cable schedules, test reports, etc.), ensuring all designs comply with IEC, IEEE, GB, and relevant national/local industry standards.

Bachelor’s degree or above in Automation, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Design, or related fields. Work
Experience
Minimum of 5 years of design and engineering experience in E-Houses (prefabricated substations/power distribution rooms), large-scale containerized power distribution centers, energy storage stations, or related fields. Language Proficiency: Proficient in English (equivalent to CET-6 level). Able to use English as a working language for fluent oral communication, as well as reading and writing professional English technical documentation (drawings, specifications, emails). Capable of participating in weekly meetings with overseas clients. Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office software. Familiar with international standards related to E-Houses (such as IEC 61331, IEEE 1584) and electrical/HVAC design specifications. Familiar with layout requirements for high/low voltage switchgear, ring main units, variable frequency drives, DC panels, and UPS systems within E-Houses. Excellent cross-departmental communication and coordination skills with a strong customer-service mindset; capable of independently leading technical clarification meetings. Strong project management awareness, with the ability to effectively prioritize tasks across multiple concurrent projects. Rigorous logical thinking and problem-solving abilities, strong stress tolerance, and adaptability to occasional short-term business trips. What's in it for you?
