Chapter Lead IT – Analytics & KYC A day in the life of the Chapter Lead As a Chapter Lead, you combine people leadership with end‑to‑end delivery responsibility. You are accountable for the successful delivery of KYC processes across multiple KYC and customer journeys. You collaborate closely with Product Leads, IT Integrators, Solution Architects and Lead Engineers within the squads. You operate in a modern technology landscape including Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, Pega, Oracle SQL and front‑end Web Components. You lead a chapter covering approximately engineers of 7 squads. You actively coach, mentor and support engineers in their day‑to‑day work, enabling them to grow and perform at their best. You are responsible for hiring new talent and building a strong, sustainable engineering chapter focused on KYC delivery. You continuously optimize squad setup and ways of working, and actively contribute to roadmap definition. You make technical and architectural decisions in collaboration with key stakeholders. You build high‑performing squads that deliver predictably and with high quality, removing impediments where needed. You ensure delivery adheres to agreed standards, including coding standards, test automation, CI/CD pipeline checks, security, observability and reusability. You actively manage the personal development and performance feedback of your engineers (and external providers where applicable). You ensure all assets comply with reliability, risk and regulatory expectations. You define and manage work packages and sourcing in alignment with delivery needs. You remain hands‑on enough to support squads on engineering challenges when required. How to succeed in this role We hire smart people for their potential. What you’ll bring to the role A Bachelor’s degree or higher in a technical discipline (preferably Computer Science or similar). 8+ years of experience designing and implementing large‑scale enterprise applications (suggested – can be adjusted). 5+ years of experience building and leading engineering teams (suggested – can be adjusted). A solid software development background, including design patterns, object‑oriented programming and test‑driven development. Strong knowledge of end‑to‑end application development and maintenance, from requirements to production. Strong backend expertise in Java, Spring Boot, Apache Kafka, event‑driven architectures and microservices. Experience working with database systems, preferably Oracle SQL. A good understanding of full‑stack development and experience working in an Agile environment. Strong knowledge of DevOps concepts and methodologies. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in a professional environment. The team The Analytics & KYC IT area focuses on KYC processes and data used across multiple customer journeys. KYC applications are leveraged by many journeys, requiring close collaboration across local and global tribes. In the coming years, the area will drive strategic digitalization initiatives, contribute to ING Group solutions, and further modernize the IT landscape. The area consists of 120+ engineers, primarily located in Brussels and India.
