Assistant Legal Counsel
Job description
Assistant Legal Counsel in India, supporting global contracting and legal operations. You will draft, review and negotiate a range of commercial and service agreements. You will work closely with internal teams and external counsel to manage risk and deliver clear, practical legal advice. We value people who are curious, collaborative and eager to grow. Responsibilities
These responsibilities include some of the following: Draft, review and negotiate commercial contracts, service agreements, amendments and related documents. Support agreement lifecycle management using contract systems and follow process and governance. Manage relationships with internal stakeholders and external counsel to deliver timely legal advice. Monitor legal spend and support alternative fee arrangements and billing guidelines. Support litigation or dispute matters by coordinating with internal teams and external counsel. Recommend process improvements and contribute to templates, playbooks and training materials. Basic Qualification: Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or equivalent degree and admission to practice as an advocate where applicable. 4 to 6 years of relevant experience in a law firm or in-house legal role.
Experience
drafting and negotiating commercial contracts and service agreements. Practical knowledge of contract lifecycle management tools or willingness to learn. Strong written and verbal communication skills in English. Willingness to work flexible hours occasionally to support global stakeholders. Preferred Qualification: If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:
Experience
with technology, IT or digital services contracts, including software as a service. Familiarity with alternative fee arrangements, budgeting and legal spend controls. Prior experience supporting cross-border or multi-jurisdictional contracts.
Experience
working in the healthcare, life sciences or regulated industry. Exposure to litigation support, investigations or dispute resolution matters.- Understanding of privacy and data protection laws relevant to commercial agreements.
