Description of Work This position assists the National Register Coordinator in the administration of National Register of Historic Places program for the State of North Carolina. Key
Responsibilities
include but are not limited to: • Ensuring office compliance with federal code and state statute by fulfilling multiple complex steps of National Register and Study List Program legal notification requirements; • Managing National Register and Study List files and databases and coordinating with staff to improve complex workflow and track legally required application review timelines; • Facilitating public access to National Register Program information through website updates; • Assisting in completing technical review of National Register nominations and minor National Register Additional Documentation projects according to federal and state program guidelines, as requested; • Accessioning and cataloging secondary sources and survey reports into historic preservation staff library; • Providing logistics and promoting committee attendance for state board meetings required by federal statute for National Register Program; • Responding to requests for National Register Program-related information from the public, Historic Preservation Office staff, and National Register and survey consultants, including assessments of property status using GIS-based historic resource survey platform. •• Telework may be possible up to two or three days per week.•• Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences Please note: Job postings close at 11:59:59 p.m. the night before the listed Posting End Date above.
