Position Title: Reserve Police Officer Job Posting Closing Date: ***OPEN FILE RECRUITMENT*** [Applications will be considered in the order they are received for any positions available at that time. They will remain on file for a minimum of 60 days.] The Provo City Police department is seeking currently employed police officers to fill-in as needed by serving in the role of Reserve Police Officer. Job Details What is the compensation? Pay Rate: $35 - $40 per hour (Depending on experience) Part-time Provo City employees are eligible to contribute to individual retirement savings plans through the City (401k, 457, Roth IRA, and/or Traditional IRA) and receive the following great benefits: a) free admission to the Provo Recreation Center, Peaks Ice Arena Public Skating, and Provo Shooting Sports Park; b) a free Provo City Library Card; c) a 25% discount on Provo Recreation Center memberships (direct family only); and d) discounts from various local and national vendors. What are the main duties? Enforce all laws of the State of Utah and/or the City of Provo and Utah County. Patrol assigned areas to discover, control, and/or prevent violations of the law. Respond to calls, emergencies, and alarms. Deliver emergency messages. Mediate civil complaints. Gather intelligence. Serve warrants and subpoenas. Educate the public in prevention of all crimes. Actively seek out and detect all criminal activity. Investigate complaints, traffic accidents, and crimes by interviewing complainants, suspects, witnesses and victims. Subdue, overcome, and control persons by using reasonable force. Maintain security of and escort prisoners from crime scenes to jail, court, or other assigned areas. Handle inquiries or complaints. Render first aid when necessary. Assist the public, control crowds, and intervene in crises. Perform other duties as required. What are the minimum requirements? Requires a POST Category I certification. Two years of experience as a police officer. A valid, lawful driver license. Cannot be on probation with another agency. ***APPLICANTS MUST BE CURRENTLY EMPLOYED AS A FULL TIME POLICE OFFICER*** What is the selection process? This is an open file posting. Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications listed above to be eligible for consideration. If selected for hire, candidate will be required to successfully pass a drug screen and criminal background check. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal. Applicants with unsatisfactory drug screen results will be ineligible for appointment or application to any Provo City position for a minimum period of six (6) months. Why Provo City?
