Characterization Lab Manager (Hybrid)
Job description
Littelfuse (NASDAQ: LFUS) is a diversified industrial technology manufacturing company shaping solutions for the safe and efficient transfer of electrical energy. Headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, USA, we serve customers across industrial, transportation, and electronics markets worldwide. With approximately 16,000 employees we design and manufacture innovative technologies that support electrification, energy efficiency, and advanced automation. Our global reach is matched by a culture that empowers innovation and long-term growth. Guided by our principles We Care, We Succeed With Our Customers, and We Own the Outcome, we work collaboratively, think boldly, and deliver solutions that move industries forward. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Characterization Lab Manager to lead engineers and technicians within our Power Semiconductor Characterization organization. This role combines deep technical ownership for the characterization and verification of advanced power semiconductor devices, including SiC Diodes, SiC/Si MOSFETs, Schottky Diodes, and IGBTs, with operational responsibility for establishing and managing a new characterization laboratory in Lipa, Philippines. This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in building the laboratory infrastructure, processes, capabilities, and team from the ground up while partnering with global characterization organizations to support the development of next-generation power semiconductor technologies. The position requires close collaboration with international teams and regular international travel to support knowledge transfer, alignment activities, and global project initiatives. About the Job: Lead and execute characterization and verification of power semiconductor devices to ensure full functional coverage. Collaborate with design leaders and product definers to define test specifications and verification plans. Develop, maintain, and enhance automated test setups and measurement systems to improve efficiency and repeatability. Analyze measurement data and generate technical reports for datasheets and internal design documentation. Conduct and lead design verification reviews, ensuring alignment with JEDEC and internal standards. Champion the global alignment of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) across all characterization sites. Identify and implement best practices in measurement methodology, automation, and data analysis. Troubleshoot and resolve test failures, propose corrective actions, and follow through on implementation. Act as the local characterization lab manager, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant operation of laboratory infrastructure, equipment, workflows, and measurement capabilities for power semiconductor devices. Lead the establishment and ramp-up of a new characterization laboratory, including equipment planning, process implementation, operational readiness, and capability development. Plan and prioritize lab capacity, resource allocation, equipment utilization, and project support to meet business unit roadmaps and development timelines. Provide day-to-day technical and organizational leadership for engineers and technicians, including task planning, capability development, work coordination, and escalation support. Collaborate closely with global engineering and characterization teams to transfer knowledge, share best practices, and ensure consistent methodologies across sites. Support strategic initiatives through regular international travel and participation in global development projects. About You: Proven experience in power semiconductor characterization, including SiC and Si-based technologies. Strong background in electrical measurements using oscilloscopes, parameter analyzers, PXI systems, and related equipment. Advanced knowledge of measurement circuit design, including high-speed switching and thermal behavior. Knowledge of industry standards IEC 60747 and JEDEC JESD14 for power semiconductor characterization, including proficiency in thermal measurement methodologies such as Rth/Zth and time-based thermal analysis. Proficiency in automated test development using scripting languages such as Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW, C/C++/C#. Experience with PCB design and test fixture development. Deep understanding of fast di/dt and dV/dt events and their implications in test environments. Ability to design or collaborate on test circuitry for advanced setups (for example, surge pulse testing). Experience defining and maintaining laboratory equipment strategies, including calibration management, maintenance planning, upgrade roadmaps, and CapEx planning for characterization infrastructure. Strong understanding of laboratory safety, EHS requirements, high-voltage/high-current test risks, and controlled measurement practices in power semiconductor characterization environments. Proven leadership experience managing technical teams, laboratories, or engineering organizations. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across global and cross-functional teams. Fluent English communication skills, both written and verbal, are required. Ability and willingness to travel internationally as required. #LI-RK At Littelfuse, we support employee growth and development. Guided by our culture principles, our teams work together to deliver value for customers and make a positive impact in the communities where we operate. We are an equal opportunity employer committed to fostering an inclusive workplace where everyone has the opportunity to grow and contribute. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, performance-based incentives, flexible work arrangements, and development opportunities. Our humble roots date back to 1927, where, in the back of a garage on Chicago’s northside, our founder, Edward Sundt, developed a small, fast-acting, protective fuse for use in sensitive test meters. Sundt wanted to call his new company producing these small fuses, “Little Fuse,” but wasn’t allowed to trademark two such common words. So, instead he went with the one-word, misspelled “Littelfuse.” For more than 95 years, Littelfuse has pioneered innovative products that help empower a sustainable, connected, and safer world. With the ever-evolving electrification and electronification of customer applications, our product technologies are closely linked to sustainable applications such as electric vehicles and EV charging infrastructure, renewable energy and energy storage, factory automation, power management and more. Throughout our history, our people have been the foundation of our success — and that remains true today. Now more than ever, our bright and talented people are a strategic advantage for the company. From the production line to the engineering lab, the office or distribution center, Littelfuse people are an important part of a diverse, talented team of the best and brightest in the industry. While Littelfuse has experienced tremendous growth in recent years, we still maintain a small-company, entrepreneurial approach where your efforts will drive our culture, our business, and the overall success of the organization. No matter where you work or what you do, your contributions will make a difference at Littelfuse — everywhere, every day. Littelfuse is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, protected veteran status, and/or any other protected class under federal, state, or local law.
