What You Will Do Job Description The Assistant Director of Housekeeping is responsible for supporting the Director of Housekeeping in the overall management and daily operations of the Housekeeping Department. This role assists in ensuring exceptional cleanliness, guest satisfaction, team member engagement, operational efficiency, and compliance with company standards. The Assistant Director provides leadership training, coaching, and guidance to all Housekeeping team members while maintaining a safe, productive, and service-oriented environment.

Duties

& Functions: Assist the Director of Housekeeping in overseeing all housekeeping operations, including guestrooms, public areas, laundry operations, and back-of-house areas. Ensure all guestrooms and public spaces meet brand standards for cleanliness, presentation, and guest readiness. Supervise Housekeeping Supervisors, Room Attendants, Housepersons, Laundry Attendants, and Public Area Attendants. Conduct daily inspections of guestrooms, VIP arrivals, suites, and public areas to ensure quality standards are consistently achieved. Support departmental opening and closing procedures and ensure operational consistency across all shifts. Coordinate room availability with Front Office and other departments to maximize guest satisfaction and operational efficiency. Monitor room status reports and reconcile discrepancies between Housekeeping and Property Management Systems (PMS). Guest

Experience

Respond promptly and professionally to guest requests, complaints, concerns, and service recovery opportunities. Follow up on all guest issues to ensure complete resolution and satisfaction. Promote a culture of exceptional guest service while ensuring compliance with company service standards and core values. Ensure guest privacy, security, and confidentiality are maintained at all times. Team Leadership and Development Assist in recruiting, onboarding, training, and developing Housekeeping team members. Conduct ongoing coaching, counseling, and performance evaluations. Lead daily pre-shift meetings and communicate departmental goals, priorities, and service expectations. Promote a positive work environment through employee engagement, recognition, and motivation programs. Ensure all associates receive required training, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), safety standards, and service excellence initiatives. Foster teamwork and collaboration within the department and across all hotel operations. Quality Assurance and Productivity Conduct regular quality inspections and provide immediate feedback to team members. Maintain departmental productivity standards while ensuring exceptional service delivery. Monitor housekeeping performance metrics and implement corrective action plans when necessary. Ensure proper execution of preventative cleaning schedules, including deep cleaning programs, floor care, mattress rotation, and specialty cleaning projects. Assist in developing and maintaining departmental checklists, procedures, and quality standards. Inventory and Cost Control Assist with managing departmental budgets and controlling operating expenses. Monitor inventory levels of cleaning supplies, guest amenities, linen, uniforms, and operating equipment. Conduct monthly, quarterly, and annual inventory counts as required. Assist in purchasing and replenishment activities while maintaining approved inventory levels. Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality standards. Safety and Compliance Ensure compliance with all health, safety, sanitation, and risk management policies. Maintain current Safety Data Sheets (SDS/MSDS) and ensure team members understand proper chemical handling procedures. Respond effectively to emergencies and assist in implementing emergency procedures when required. Ensure compliance with all company policies, labor laws, and workplace regulations. Maintain a safe work environment and ensure proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Maintenance Coordination Identify maintenance issues during inspections and submit work orders promptly. Follow up with Engineering to ensure timely completion of repairs. Assist in coordinating preventative maintenance initiatives within guestrooms and public areas. Ensure guestrooms are maintained in excellent condition and out-of-order rooms are monitored appropriately. Administrative

Responsibilities

Assist in preparing weekly schedules based on occupancy forecasts and labor productivity targets. Review employee attendance, worked hours, and payroll submissions for accuracy. Prepare departmental reports and maintain accurate operational records. Utilize hotel systems and software programs including PMS, Microsoft Office, payroll, purchasing, and inventory management systems. Maintain confidentiality of employee and guest information. Participate in departmental, property-wide, and corporate meetings as required. Support company initiatives, sustainability programs, and community involvement activities. Demonstrate leadership by example and serve as a role model for professionalism, integrity, and guest service. Provide hands-on operational support whenever necessary to ensure exceptional guest experiences. What You Bring Requires a working knowledge of division operations. Working knowledge is generally learned on-the-job. Requires ability to operate computer equipment and other [Housekeeping] systems.
