Job description

The Fire Department of the City of New York (FDNY) is the largest Fire Department in the United States and universally is recognized as the world's busiest and most highly skilled emergency response agency. The Fire Department, City of New York (FDNY), seeks a full-time Community Coordinator in the Office of Recruitment & Retention/EMS Recruitment. The EMS Recruiter, under the supervision of the Director of EMS Recruitment working with a team of uniformed EMS personnel as well as civilian, and uniformed Fire personnel will perform a variety of administrative tasks in support of FDNY’s diverse recruitment strategy. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: assist with creating and maintaining working relationships with privately run NYS EMT Programs within and outside of the NYC Department of Education (DOE), CUNY and SUNY; deliver EMS Recruitment presentations to varying audiences; provide administrative and logistical support for EMS Recruitment Attrition Mitigation programs designed to assist EMS applicants/ candidates throughout the hiring process; and other related tasks. Minimum Qualifications

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or 2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or 3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.

Preferred Skills

Must have strong public speaking skills, be computer proficient in Word and Excel and Power Point and previous recruitment experience. Excellent organizational and administrative skills are required. Strong written and verbal communication skills are needed. Fitness enthusiast a plus. EMS experience a plus.

Residency Requirement

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of interview.
